Holloway urges tracks to follow Star Pelaw's lead on jumps racing

MICKYS TRIBUTE struck gold again for Ricky Holloway in the Star Sports Hurdle Trophy at Star Pelaw on Saturday as the north east track continued its support of the jumps code with a 435m hurdles contest on a good card at the Chester-le-street venue.

Always in command, the son of Good News maintained his unbeaten record over hurdles at Star Pelaw with a fourth straight success when justifying 3-10 favouritism with a snappy start and first-bend lead to run out a 26.08 winner over kennelmate Razldazl Barkley by two and three-quarter lengths with Craig Marston's Kates Goldie in third.

Marston's kennel supplied four of the six runners and the Monmore handler's commitent to the hurdles cause continues to be welcomed by Star Pelaw and Holloway himself.

After winning with Mickys Tribute, the record-breaking hurdles trainer who stuck with Rapido Benny on Towcester's Derby final night card last week, said: "Mickys Tribute absolutely loves it here and is running well, and we'll be back up next week. We've got some nice hurdlers coming through and I was happy enough with Razldazl Barkley who hadn't had a hurdles race for a while.

"Well done to Star Pelaw who continue to support jumps racing - it's a shame other tracks don't follow their lead."

Incidentally, Mickys Tribute also holds the track record for the 435m trip with a 25.97 set in March.
