Paul Burr was in sparkling form at Romford on Friday night as the Norfolk-based handler recorded a treble.
He kicked off the winners with Yahoo Poppy, who showed great determintation to get up in the dying strides and deny Caspers Buddy by half a length in 24.43.
Bacon Frazzles bounced back from a narrow defeat in the Doug Tyler Summer Cup Final to land heat two of the Romford Friday Night 500 Stayers over 575m.
Burr’s 6/4 chance stayed on powerfully to win going away by three and a half lengths from Airtech Amigo and stop the clock at a pleasing 35.27. Heat one was a void race.
Burr completed the treble when Bacon Roll was made to work hard to justify 4/6 favouritism, but he eventually did so by three-quarters of a length in 24.05.
The main event of the night was the Romford Friday Night 500 Maiden final and it saw a very impressive victory for Bedrock Bella.
A trap-to-line winner in the heats, Martyn Wiley’s 11/4 shot repeated the dose in the decider as she blasted out of trap one and maintained a furious march to win by a wide margin.
Whisky Flame chased her home but could only get within five and a quarter lengths of the winner, who posted a time of 24.05 for the 400m trip.
Nathan Hunt registered a double on the night, starting with Bretons Boy in heat one of the Romford Friday Night 500 Standard.
The 5/1 outsider upset 4/11 favourite Le Pur Sang by making all with a length to spare over that rival in 24.31, with Blastoff Kobbie claiming the other qualifying spot.
Heat two saw the David Mullins-trained Piemans Goalie make first run count as he dominated from the front to score from Mucky Boreen in 24.16, with Carters Buddy back in third.
Hunt also landed the sprint over 225m courtesy of Teaboy Brownie, who ran riot at 5/2 to beat Daring Hoffa by four and a half lengths in 13.34
The Paul Young-trained Conans Express took the other sprint of the night, denying Wychwood Rose to strike at 11/4 in 13.66.
Maxine Locke got on the scoresheet when her Dashaway Daisy (7/4fav) proved far too good for her opposition, running out a facile five-and-a-half-length winner from Fastnet Best in 24.16.
Bright Jewel took the Roy Gray's 85th Birthday Stakes over 750m.
The 15/8 shot led all the way but had to dig deep to repel the fast-finishing Borna Parachute by half a length and she held on for victory in 47.12.
Punch lands a knockout blow at Sunderland
There were eight opens at Sunderland where Punch A Hole impressed when landing the Arena Racing Company Standard Maiden final.
Graham Strike justified odds of 10/11 with a dominant performance, getting first run in the white jacket and making all by six and three-quarters lengths in 27.05 for the 450m distance.
There was a shock in the Arena Racing Company Sprint final as Borneo Bucks defied odds of 20/1 to make all by two and a quarter lengths from Laughill Rex in 15.85.
There were three heats of the Arena Racing Company Standard over 450m on the menu at the Wearside track, with Unanimous Kai taking the first instalment in 27.05 (+10) by half a length from Getup Me Lad.
Heat two went to Ted Soppitt’s Sunnyside Gurkha (4/9fav), who beat Dernville Lady by two and a quarters lengths in 27.47, while the third qualifier went the way of 22/1 shot Fardoe Majestic.
Yvonne Bell’s bitch took it up at the third bend and went on to beat Madabout Peck by four and three-quarter lengths in 27.70.
The card also featured three heats of the Arena Racing Company Dual Distance, with the opening round over the sprint trip of 261m.
Bramble Nickeen (11/4) crossed the line a length clear of Hoffa Epic when taking the first heat in 15.71, while the second heat saw Sunnyside Jayden (1/3 fav) complete a double for Soppitt with a 15.74 success by two and a quarter lengths from Whitehills Titan.
Tom Heilbron’s Toddys Tank set the standard in the third heat with a comfortable four-and-a-quarter-length triumph from Singalong Maggie in 15.51.
