Bikini Bullet sets new Romford clock

Belinda Green was the one to beat again at Romford, picking up four winners on the night, including Bikini Bullet who routed her Coral Coronation Cup semi-final rivals to set a new track record for the 575m distance.

A 13.13 split was breathtaking, four spots inside of the current track record for the 225m distance set by Chopchop Rainbow. The youngest of the finalists, a June 24 whelp, she has hit a rich seam of form of late and is going to prove hard to beat next Friday night despite a wider than ideal draw. Burrows Charm chased her home to make the decider for Jason Heath.

Green's other semi-final scorer was Teddie who almost repeated the distance win of her kennelmate, coming home eight and a quarter lengths clear, compared to Bikini Bullet's nine-length winning margin. She was making this final for the second year on the bounce, finishing third last year to Fabulous Sonique. Izzys Tenpin picked up the other qualifying spot for David Mullins.

Tiffield Tarquin won the Essex Vase over track and trip earlier on in the year, making another decider here. He was no match for Teddie in the opening round having missed the break but he was right on his mettle last night, adding his name to the top six times of the year for a third time. Underground Jim picked up the other spot for Paul Young.

The two semis of the Coral Guys and Dolls saw the girls on top in terms of time with Headford Sarah clocking 23.91 beating last week's quickest winner Scooby Diamond who picked a bad time to miss the break. Maxine Locke's winner will start from the red jacket again in the final.

To her immediate right will be Droops Will who landed the Guys side of the draw, also for Locke. He was behind Scooby Diamond on Trainers' Judgement Night to add another form line into the mix here. He just got the better of Duffin Dermy who has made a very good start to life with Roy Peckham. Philip Short's Gallant Star and David Mullins's Piemans Goalie will also line up in the £5,000 final.

Green picked up another pair of winners on the undercard, also over 575m. Bombshell Bullet was not for catching after leading early in her contest, kennelmate Bonus Bullet doing the chasing home there. The winner had also been one of the three winners for Green on a spectacular Derby final night for the kennel alongside Bikini Bullet.

Behemoth rounded out the winners for Green, making a successful step up to six bends. He had a good spell back in the spring, with this just his second run back after a rough time of things in the opening round of the Derby.

There was also a pair of winners on the undercard for Locke, making it four on the night for her as well. Headford Fiona produced the quickest of the 400m times on the night, stopping the clock at 23.69. She had found all sorts of trouble in her heat of the Guys And Dolls but things worked out kinder early on last night.

Headford Wayne was also a casualty in the heats of that Cat Two competition but bounced back to winning ways from a more suitable middle starting slot. It certainly helped him get away cleaner than he had on Monday to see off the challenge of Brindle Bully.

The night opened with a pair of winners for Dave Lee. Another Solution in the second race was the swifter of the pair to pick up his first open race win at this track to go along with a sprinting success at Central Park.

A slow exit meant that Untold Ripple had to work much harder than her starting price of 1/4 suggested that she might have had to. She made up ground well around the opening couple of bends before challenging on the 'wrong' side on the run-in which caused a bit of bumping late on.

Jane Craske had the other winner on the card courtesy of My Name Siddy. He has made a strong start to his career with Craske, winning three of his six starts for the Yarmouth trainer after winning four of 18 when trained in Ireland.

Heilbron on target with a Sunderland pair

Tom Heilbron picked up two of the five opens at Sunderland with Unanimous Leo taking his second win since joining Link Kennels. Impressive at Sheffield on Sunday, he blitzed his way to the front at the main expense of his kennelmate Romeo Dutch on this occasion to score with plenty in hand once more. He arrived with a smart Irish card and looks set to continue the good work over here.

Slinky Dog Dash made it a double for Heilbron, getting off the mark for the kennel. A recent semi-finalist in the Arc Puppy Trophy at the track, he turned on the shoulder of his kennelmate Innfield Bucko before proving the stronger of the pair from the third bend.

Quickest of the winners over 450m on the night was Cunnigar King. Mark Bulmer's runner was a wide-margin scorer, running out a five and three-quarter length winner. A sub five-second split set him on his way and that was all that he needed to go on and pick up a 10th win in just 22 runs for the kennel.

Two sprint contests on the card were both won in solid times with Stuart Tighe's Vialli the quicker of the pair. He has shown plenty of speed in his limited runs so far in the UK and despite not being the quickest away again, he paced up into the lead. A vacant trap outside of him was probably a help but he is a decent prospect.

Niosfearrnabolt won in a similar fashion off a slightly slower break, making it two wins from his three starts since getting back to race action. He still has plenty of class about him so hopefully he can stay on track and add a few more wins to his career tally.
