Heath nets three at Hove on Saturday night
There was open racing on Saturday night at Central Park, Doncaster and Hove on Saturday night with Jason Heath taking the plaudits at the last of those with a treble.

Hove treble for Jason Heath
Burrows Eclipse starred at Hove on Saturday night, producing just the 14th time of sub-29 seconds over the 500m distance this year. His 3.44 sectional was a spot quicker than Proper Heiress produced in his track record breaking run back in October in the opening round of the Gold Collar. A finalist in the bet365 Hunt Cup over 650m, he also made the semis of the East Anglian Derby, Kent Derby and Regency for an excellent year over a variety of tracks and trips.
One of the dogs in front of Burrows Eclipse in that Regency semi was his kennelmate Rules For Some who scored over the 695m trip. She had to dig deep late on to regain the lead in a race where three of the four runners spent some time on the front end.
The middle leg of the treble was Burrows Charm. He is another who has enjoyed a fruitful campaign for Heath, runner-up in the East Anglian Derby as well as reaching the final of the Maiden Derby and the semis of the Kent Derby. He got his head in front right on the line after an early bump.
Derek Knight picked up a pair of winners courtesy of Hat Trick Bucko and Azura Sky. The first named was a smart 29.12 scorer, making all of the running while the latter produced a little bit of a surprise at 7/1 given that she had only won an S3 the time before, but she has clearly been well suited to the step up in trip.
Quickest of the three winners over 695m was Belinda Green's Swift Jarvis. That trip is a touch on the short side these days but it was his third win from his last five starts, following on from an 847m success at Oxford last time and a 955m win at this track prior to that.
Rural Pest got off the mark at the second time of asking in the UK for Gemma Evans. A Time Juvenile Derby finalist back in August, he was helped by a weaker field, getting away with a sectional five spots slower than last week but it was enough to see him around in front.
On a night where there were eight odds-on favourites turned over, the shortest priced of those was beaten by the Mattie Richards-trained Montalto Star in the only sprint of the night. John Campbell's Robbies Galaxy was another to get the better of a shortie, landing a 500m win in 29.25.
Richard Rees got on the scoresheet with Zenith Imminent, holding off his kenenlmate Uncle Freddie. Known as Ballymac Jester when he made the semis of the Kirby earlier in the year, it was his first outing since the Kent Derby final. Sussex Cyclone scored for Jamie Kingsley and the night was finished with a winner for Patrick Browne and Annadown Zara.
Mavrias double in Central Park opens
Lets Go Girl is starting to really click into action now, winning for the fourth time in 10 starts for Spencer Mavrias. She had looked a classy recruit but one who was still very green until last week. The penny really looks to have dropped now, producing a professional performance to see off a decent yardstick in Droopys Rosie, stopping the clock in 28.87.
Mavrias had kicked the evening off in style with a win for Lets Go Johnny. He had gone into the notebook on his debut run at the track a week prior and justified his odds-on price with a decent 29.16 success.
Perhaps the performance of the night, however, came from Tony Gifkins's Capel Moon. She produced a good run last week when stepped up to 664m for the first time but last night went just seven spots off the track record (40.17 her winning time) in what was frankly an annihilation of her rivals from the front. It was only the 13th run of her life, so better could still be coming next year.
Miss Syd (40.39) for Ricky Holloway, Harlequin Taluka (40.58) for Barry O'Sullivan, and Doug Squirrel (40.98) for George Andreas picked up the other three staying races on the card.
Maxine Locke picked up a win with Ballymac Blanco in a very impressive 28.64. He tied the fifth quickest time of the year over 491m, seeing off his kenenlmate Racenight Mikey by a wide margin from what proved to be a perfect starting slot in the red jacket.
The surprise of the night for punters was Dan Brabon's Martindale Lad winning the sprint at the expense of Liz McNair's King Presley. The March 24 pup has won seven of his first 14 starts.
Brunch Pal made the third round of the Irish Derby and made a winning UK debut for the Dave Lee kennel, breaking the beam in 29.37. He closed out his time with David Murray with a 28.25 run over 525y at Shelbourne, so it is worth remembering the name. The other open on the card went to Heygood Looking for Dave Puddy.
Roberts with a Donny double
Bogger Darling and Droopys Trigger provided a brace for Savva Roberts at Doncaster. The first named made the final of the shootout at Sunderland on Classic final night, while the latter was getting himself back in the win column after taking on some decent company of late, making the semis of the Puppy Collar at Oxford.
The winning run of Haggard Badger continued for Kirsty Grayson, notching up a fourth win on the bounce over 483m. Rental Crisis pulled a win out of the fire last week after a slow break but he was unable to repeat the dose last night with Beverley Heaton's Grovenor Mona stealing the march on him early on.
Tiermana Lucky had already produced a win for David Fradgley by that point of the evening, clocking a decent 27.67 in a race that contained multiple Doncaster winners Keefill Rocky and Look Smart. Clona Chief picked up the first open of the night for David Verner, with the open race winners also seeing a victory for Rapido Treat for Samantha Lapidge.
