Home Run Hounds return to West End Woofs
Home Run Hounds will again be present at West End Woofs on Saturday.

West End Woofs Back for a Third Year
Home Run Hounds and HRH Romford will be in Covent Garden on Saturday 9th August for the third West End Woofs—a standout event for the greyhound UK and animal rescue community.
HRH have been ever-present at this event to support greyhound homing charities, with Claire Butler endorsing the impact of the day.
Butler said:
“This will be our third year and it’s an incredible event.
"We get to show off our greyhounds to a huge audience on the day and through the incredible publicity it generates on social media and other media channels. It involves a crazy early start but it’s worth it.”
“So far every greyhound that we have taken to WEW has got a home either as a direct result of the day or through the videos that have been posted by the celebrities and organisers."
Stage legends Elaine Paige and Bernadette Peters will return for hosting duties following the success of the previous two years, when many animals found their forever homes and the event gained traction in greyhound news UK and community channels like the Greyhound Star.
West End Woofs, a growing favourite in the greyhound scene, was conceived as a virtual offering during lockdown in 2020, with the first live version in 2023. Broadway Barks, its transatlantic counterpart, has been running for 25 years.
West End Woofs begins at 10.15am with a meet and greet, then animals—and stars—appear from 11am. Stars include Richard Dempsey, Robert Lindsay, Paul Nicholas, Wayne Sleep and Helen Worth, plus the current cast members of The Devil Wears Prada, Hamilton, Les Misérables, Oliver! and The Phantom of the Opera.
Homing organisations present include All Dogs Matter, Fetcher Dog Rescue Centre, Home Run Hounds (greyhounds), Noah’s Ark Dog Rescue, Peterborough Cat Rescue, Pro Dogs Direct, Saving Saints Rescue (St Bernards) and Saving Souls Animal Rescue.
This year’s event also features the return of Mayhew Therapaws, who will be on hand to illustrate and explain the work they carry out—highlighting the emotional support potential of retired greyhounds and the compassionate side of the greyhound racing UK industry.
With tickets only costing £5 (www.westendwoofs.dog), it promises to be a brilliant day for animal lovers, potential adopters, and fans of the greyhound community.
