BGBF British Bred Oaks double for Hutton
Kevin Hutton landed two of the four BGBF British Bred Oaks at Oxford on Saturday night.
Coppice Lottie (7/4fav) left it late to score in heat two but got up in the dying strides to touch off kennelmate Union Blizzard in 27.16 for the 450m trip, with Ivys Showgirl back in third.
Hutton also struck with Dreamin Francis (6/5fav), who got on top late on when beaten Signet Maisie by half a length in 26.98, while Hutton’s Miss Kubelik claimed third place.
However, the standard was set by Bang On Edith, an impressive winner from the front in 26.67.
Nathan Hunt's 13/8 chance showed the early speed to turn in front and maintained a furious march to cross the line three and a half lengths clear of Union Piper, with a further neck back to Signet Nayla in third.
Rob Hall’s Union Rose (9/4) posted a pleasing 26.76 as she ran out a two-length winner over Signet Lyssa, with Dreamin Dot picking up the final qualifying spot.
Hutton landed a four-timer on the card having earlier scored with Rioja Maxi (4/7fav) in 26.86 and Givemethemoney (4/5fav) in 26.78.
The other two opens went the way of the Rachel Hill-trained Droopys Swag, who won at 7/2 in 26.72, and Dalton Smith’s Swift Oilean (evens fav), a trap-to-line winner in 26.96.
New 664m track record at Central Park
There were seven opens on the menu at Central Park where Paul Donovan recorded a hat-trick, including a new track record for Proper Dangeress.
The exciting June 2023 whelp quickly made his way past early leader Hasty Lottie before racing a long way clear and she crossed the line eight lengths ahead of that rival to score in 40.10, beating the previous 664m record set by Garfiney Blaze in March by two spots.
Donovan was also successful over that same trip with Wonderful Abi, who had to work hard to justify even-money favouritism over Beaming Bono by a head in 40.70, while kennelmate Tintreach Tiny (100/30) did the business over 491m in 29.05 when beating Coppice Lizzie by three and a half lengths.
There was a double for Dave Lee as Bluejig Baron completed a 491m hat-trick with a dominant three-and-three-quarter-length victory over Ballymac Axel in 26.68, while Ontherun Eden spang a 5/1 surprise when taking the 277m contest by a length and three-quarters from Fastlane Hoffa in 16.27.
The two heats of the Jenningsbet Maiden Trophy went to the Luke Morrison-trained Dreamin Lando (3/1), who scored from Spark Of Magic and Beach Holiday in 29.47, and Chaddy Boy (11/8fav), who clocked the same time when winning by a short-head from Cronody Zuma, with Zari Lizzy back in third.
Rees in the winners at Monmore
Richard Rees registered a double at Monmore as his Avarua Zlatan (7/2) posted a taking trap-to-line performance to beat Droopys Trade by three-quarters of a length in 28.17.
His kennelmate Amazing Zeus (5/6fav) produced a determined effort to reel in Timmys Hunter in the dying strides of a 630m contest for a short-head success in 38.04.
Also successful over 630m were Blu Bert (5/1) for Kim Billingham-Hine in 38.22 and Jimmy Fenwick’s Ballymac Lineout (13/8) in 37.98.
Makeadifference (6/1) upset the well-fancied Newinn Souly when making all by a neck from that rival in the Ladbrokes.com 264 final for Chris Fereday (15.43).
The other 480m opens at the Wolverhampton circuit were won by Mike Burton’s Droopys Aladdin (8/13fav) in 28.27, the Maxine Locke-trained Ballymac Blanco (13/8fav) in 28.12, Richie Taberner’s Aero Najem (6/1) in 28.69 and Tullymurry Troy for Brian Thompson in 28.26.
No stopping Felix at Doncaster
Acomb Felix extended his winning run to eight in a row with a facile triumph over 450m in 27.35 (+10).
Sent off a 2/9 favourite, Kevin Ferguson’s in-form runner showed the pace to get round in front and went on to pull six and a quarter lengths clear of Tiermana Lucky.
The latter’s trainer, Dave Fradgeley, did get on the scoresheet when Stonepark Wes justified 2/7 favouritism by two and a half lengths from Swift Jeromo over 483m in 29.43 (+10).
Coolruss Dungary won well from the front in the 483m maiden contest for Robert Copping as he stopped the clock at 29.60 (+20).
