Irish Greyhound News - Bombay Pat sets Derby standard again
We take a look over the top winning runs at each of the Irish Greyhound Racing tracks from the previous week, including from the Irish Greyhound Derby

Top winning greyhounds from last week in Ireland
The second round of the Boylesports Irish Greyhound Derby was headlined for the second week in a row by Bombay Pat. The English Derby finalist went 10 spots quicker than he had in the opening round for Graham Holland after missing out on a spot in the decider of this competition in 2024 by a head.
A surprise casualty in the opening round last week was Lennies Desire. He got straight back on the winning trail at Curraheen Park with a flying 28.01 effort. The Towcester track record holder was 20 spots off the Cork clock on his first ever race start at the track (has trialled in sprints there in the past).
There was a striking race debut at Clonmel from David Flanagan’s Bobmar. A 17-length margin was put into his rivals, clocking a slick 28.46. It was a run that slotted straight into the top 20 times of the year over the 525y distance there. His dam’s first litter were not world beaters but this was an excellent start for her second with Bobmar comfortably the youngest on the list this week.
Two other '24 whelps are on the list. Ballymac Setanta produced the fourth quickest 350y time of the year at Limerick in early August, finishing the month with a solid 28.35 debut over 525y. Ballinabola Ruth won the Enniscorthy award with an impressive debut. A half-sister to Ballinabolas Ed and Bill as well as Hopes Teddy, she is bred to be very smart.
We said this a few times through August but Waterford has seen some very smart times of late. Lone Calling was the latest to add to that list, two weeks after a flying 28.22 debut, she went a length quicker, just 20 spots off the track record. She is part of an exceptional litter by Droopys Sydney out of Ballymac Pete who still have a couple of months left as pups.
