Bundle leads Irish Oaks times

In the most recent Irish POW Droopys Bundle was the Thurles winner. She was the quickest in the quarter-finals of the Sporting Press Irish Oaks over the weekend at Shelbourne, stopping the clock at 28.04. Only four times have been quicker this year, and three of those have been Ballymac Kamala.

The step up to six bends this year has proven to be a good move for Lennies Desire. The ex Towcester track record holder only made the second round of the Derby after winning a couple of times over 750y at Waterford. He is now four from six over the distance, and has been runner-up in the other pair.

The Race of Champions semis were at Tralee over the weekend with Solo And Go the quicker of the two scorers. He beat Ballycowen Frank and Bouncing Monarch who had led home the Con & Annie Kirby Memorial field. The latter had won that contest but the former had set a new track record at Tralee in his final warmup contest for the Race Of Champions.

Youngest on the list this week is Marlhill Jenny who took a massive step up on any of her other form in the book when given more of a test of stamina. She was trying 570y for the first time and it clearly suited her massively

It's a little over six weeks until the opening round of the Irish Sprint Cup at Dundalk. Ballymac Riddick produced 21.10 to lead times last week, tying for the seventh quickest time of the year to this point. Despite all the stamina in his damline (the likes of Ballymac Taylor, Garfiney Blaze etc etc) he has taken after his sire with plenty of natural pace.
