Irish Performance of the Week - 27 October 2026
There was less action in Ireland last week but it was the start of the Fair Warrior at Mullingar where the final heat produced the clash of the round.

Fair Warrior kicks off at Mullingar
The opening round of the Pat Doran Memorial Fair Warrior Open 400 at Mullingar saw Callaway Danny produce the quickest time in the heats, beating the ante-post favourite Stonepark Browne in the process. It looks like being a wide open competition with the heat winners clocking 21.29, 21.43, 21.45, 21.46, 21.48 and 21.70.
At Shelbourne it was the opening round/semi-finals of the IGOBF National Puppy Starts Soon ON1 where Johnjimthesecond produced a flying effort to blitz his field by eight lengths. His 28.10 was one of the more impressive debuts of the year, though there have been a few that have set the track alight! It is his dam's first litter with his brother already making an ON1 final back in July before landing The Galloping Kennels A3 525 Stake Final at Cork.
Grouchos Anthony was a smart winner at Tralee, picking up his third success in his first four races, and he would have been four for four if he had not been distracted in the other, six lengths clear on the final bend at the time. He has early pace to burn and looks a serious tool in the making.
The 28.28 from Sparta Calli at Waterford is the third fastest time of the year over 525y at the venue, just five spots off the quickest. It was a clear career best from her by quite a margin, the question now being whether she can back up such a run as this with another of similar quality.
A week after Pennys Silver won the POW for Newbridge, her litter brother Pennys Driftwood took the award. He landed the October Unraced ON2/ON3 525 Final in style, comfortably on top of his rivals where it mattered. Half-siblings to 2025 Oaks third Raebella Bullet, they are a promising litter with this time just seven spots of the quickest of the year.
