Trainer says star looks 'an absolute picture'

Magical Luka is back with Kevin Hutton and being lined up for a crack at the Arena Racing Company Kent Silver Salver at Central Park which starts on Saturday, June 13 with the final two weeks later on Saturday, June 27.

The Irish star, high up on the betting lists for the Star Sports & Orchestrate Ltd. English Greyhound Derby over the winter, never really had Towcester on his agenda but has returned to the UK for a crack at the sole Category One sprint in the Calendar.

Magical Luka, an October 2023 son of King Sheeran and Magical Mary, made an unbeaten star to his Irish career when winning the Carrick Aldo@Stud ON1/ON2 400 at Dundalk and the Moorstown Kennels Stakes at Tralee.

Pat Guilfoyle’s dog broke the track record in each of his last three runs at Tralee.

Later sent to Hutton for a tilt at the Coral Romford Puppy Cup, he sensationally equalled the track record at the London Road venue in the heats with a flying 23.26sec.

Following up in the semis, a missed break proved costly when he lined up a hot favourite in the final behind Nathan Hunt's Scooby Diamond.

However, Hutton is delighted to have the Irish sensation back at his Burford kennels.

"He looks an absolute picture and we were delighted to take him again for Pat (Guilfoyle). The plan is Central Park before returning to Ireland with Pat for the Bar One Irish Sprint at Dundalk."

*COPNEY QUEEN makes her debut for Paul Young at Towcester this afternoon.

Fastest for John Flaherty in the heats of both the Northern Puppy Derby at Newcastle and Gymcrack at Sheffield, where she ran-up to Droopys Typical in the final, the June 24 daughter of Dorotas Wildcat goes in the Orchestrate Ladies which forms part of an all-open card at the Northamptonshire venue.
