Juvenile Classic entries to be made by noon on Wednesday

Towcester racing manager Danny Rayment has confirmed that entries can still be made for the upcoming Juvenile Classic - but will be via email and a dedicated mobile number sent to trainers on the track's mailing lists.

As with most of the UK's programme this year, the hot weather has decimated the racing programme at the Northamptonshire venue this week with Tuesday and Wednesdays meetings cancelled - and Thursday's card looking "looking extremely doubtful", says Rayment.

"As always the welfare of all greyhounds and staff is paramount and, if the current forecast remains, then we will ensure no one travels.

"However, with the Juvenile Classic and other opens closing on Wednesday - these take place on Sunday - we are conscious about entries.

"With that in mind, we will be taking entries via email and a dedicated mobile number which will be sent out to all of the trainers on our mailing lists shortly."

Won last year by the Patrick Janssens-trained Romeo Alliance, the Juvenile Classic is a Category One event for 36 runners (pups whelped August 24 and younger) with a £10,000 first prize and will be run over the next three Sundays with the final scheduled for Sunday, July 12.

Entries close at noon on Wednesday.
