Memphis makes it four straight wins at Towcester

After an unbeaten run through the British Bred Derby, King Memphis returned to Towcester on Sunday afternoon to pick up a fourth straight success at the Northamptonshire venue. He had to work hard, with Swift Magnison for Nick Deas heading to the front early and in no mood to give up his lead. The Liz McNair-trained star gradually closed the gap, getting up in the final strides to take the win.

There was a roaring back to form from Pavilion Team, who produced the run of his life for Mark Wallis. He has a strong pedigree of excellent runs at the track in the past but his 15.38 was three spots off the track record set by Aero Sacundai in 2024, just the second dog to dip under 15.40.

Slick Skylark picked up the first open on the card for Patrick Janssens. She is another who had to come from behind to grab the money in a race that changed complexion off the final bend.

One other four-bend contest went to Mike Burton's Carrick Scholsey. He was getting his head in front for the first time since joining the kennel having shown form at the highest level in Ireland.

Two races over six bends on the card saw wins for Reality Power and Java Joan for Robert Emery and Saamus Gaughan respectively. The former was comfortably the quicker of the pair and beat the stronger field, with both getting themselves to the front early on in the piece.

Three trainers with a Star Pelaw double

Glenn Foot has quickly got up to 15 open race winners on the year, the fifth most of any trainer in the country. Caister Kay made every yard in a sprint contest, clocking the quickest time over the 245m trip on the night. It was her first run for the kennel having left Craig Morris, and given her Yarmouth form over four bends, she will do better when stepped back up in trip.

It was over 435m that Foot's other winner came, Travel Safe justifying her odds on starting price. Another to make the move up from the Morris range, she too was off the mark at the first time of asking for her new trainer. She beat a pair of 33/1 outsiders home for George Stark who was another trainer to pick up a double.

Stark's winners came in the first two opens on the card from Havana Special and Millhill May. The pair were both quick to stride and came away from the very start to get the job done, with the second of them winning for the fourth time in her last five starts.

The third trainer to pick up a double on the night was Daniel Bell. Nah Then Keefill continued the trend of leaders being very hard to peg back, winning a sprint, with Please Nancy picking up a six-bend contest earlier on the card.

Grantstown Cross was an impressive winner for Rab Galloway. Another to get himself to the front early on in the piece, he came clear by more than five lengths to pick up his first win of 2026.

A staying contest went to Fabulous Spell for Ronnie Knights. She got to the front late on in the day but only when leader Sheilas Sky got distracted, turning to the inside of the track, forcing runner-up No Brakes to leap over her, an unsatisfactory conclusion for all bar the winning connections.

One other open on the night went to Popper Joe for Henry Young. In keeping with the theme of the evening, he got to the front on the run to the opening bend.

Henry's stayer adds another win

Savanaregimental picked up his second win of the year at Sheffield for Diane Henry in a staying contest. He has shown flashes of brilliance since arriving on these shores, pitched straight into the Golden Jacket on his UK debut. His prior Sheffield win is the quickest of the year over 660m at the track, and while he was two and a half lengths shy of that, it was a visually impressive display, pulling six and a half lengths clear.

Rose Draper won the 500m contest with Slippy Keith, gaining first run on the favourite courtesy of a much slicker exit from the traps. He has hit a run of rude health in graded action of late, winning four straight in A2 before a top grade defeat last time out.

A sprint contest saw Colliers Bucholz home in front again for Paul Prior. He didn't come away as well as he is capable of doing but he paced up well to grab the lead and make it three wins in his last four starts.

Three for Donna Davy at Valley

Three winners for Donna Davy at Valley came over three different distances. Droopys Nijinsky won the 460m contest, getting back on the winning trail after a couple of defeats which ended a decent six run winning streak.

Over two bends it was Epic Evelyn who scored, running riot by eight lengths in the second quickest time of the year so far. Dinos Bird rounded out the treble with a 645m success, the first time that she has been raced over a distance as far.

Anna Jeffrey and Craig Marston had other sprint open race winners on the card, the first of those winning with Inner City and the second with Whelan. Inner City was picking up her sixth win from her last eight starts.

There was a winner for Steven Howard courtesy of Crokers Bluebell. The multiple top grade sprint winner picked up the second open win of there career. A six-bend contest saw Ashway June get her head in front late on for Adrian Rawlings, extending her win streak to four since joining the track.
