Tighe sprinter returns with a bang

Dunstall Dash winner Good Acclaim returned to race action for the first time since that competition win with a slick success over 305m, just seven spots off his personal best. His main rival Da Don missed the break but even so, it would be hard to think that the Mark Russell-trained railer would have been able to cope with the sheer pace and power on show from Stuart Tighe's star. He is now 11/12 in sprint races.

It was a successful evening for the Carol Weatherall team who picked up a pair of winners. Scooby Matilda was another sprint victor on the night, clocking a time a hair under four lengths slower than Good Acclaim. The multiple top grade Towcester winner was landing her first open success.

The staying contest at the end of the card went to Frankton Ivy who proved too strong coming home for Tell On Aimee. Frank Macklin's bitch had had to work harder to get on the lead than perhaps was ideal, leaving little in the tank to try to repel Weatherall's TV Trophy finalist.

Swift Kipper continued her excellent form for Terry Munslow with a 500m success. The absolute pick of her form had been over 480m to this point but she is finding that level over the longer trip now to supplement her wins. She has now won eight of her last 10 starts.

There was a winner for Jason Gray courtesy of De Lifeofriley. He turned nearer last than first but that was not an issue for him, using his stamina to get himself on top late on. It's no surprise that connections have already tried six bends with him, he looks worth another go down the line.

Lynn Cook had a wide-margin winner with Swift Odran who ran his rivals ragged in a puppy contest. His winning run in graded company came to a halt at three last time out when finishing second in an A1 but he quickly regained the winning thread. An August 24 son of King Elvis, there are a couple of others in the litter who look pretty decent as well.

Burrows Blaze was a winner for Robert Hall on the night. 480m was the distance this time, overcoming a little bit of trouble in running to get on top late in the piece. He's not had all that many opportunities in his career, so there could be a little more to come from him.

The other open winner on the card was Fancroftmawbaker for Kelly Wilton. She added to a recent D2 dead-heat win with a battling display in a 305m race, making her breakthrough an open race level.
