Monday night open review - Nottingham and Star Pelaw - 27 May 2025
There was open race action at both Nottingham and Star Pelaw last night, we look back at the winners.

Nottingham Doubles for Suthurst and Holland
Jetstream Breeze is enjoying an excellent first half of 2025 for Peter Holland. He has eight wins from 13 starts so far which includes three of the top 11 times over Nottingham's 500m trip. His 29.61 last night was the slowest of those three but it was still more than enough to justify his short price and run out an eight and a half length winner. Holland had won the prior contest with Velvet Madrid.
Jill Suthurst had winners at opposite ends of the odds spectrum. Witton Williams was fully expected to take the sprint open at 4/11 but Witton Cash was less expected at 11/1. The latter would turn over Esther Driver's sprinter Mossrich Karen on a rare foray over four bends. Driver would get some compensation for the defeat with Grangeview Mas winning later in the evening.
58/1 Star Pelaw double for Colin Dibb
Victories for Shanahee Roxy and Keeperhill Ei Ei made for an open race double for Colin Dibb. It got the kennel off the mark in opens this year, albeit from only eight runners so far. The former made it a hat-trick of wins afterA5 and A4 wins at home track Harlow with the latter winning for the second time in three starts since coming across from Marlene Westwood.
Tromora Goal scored for Henry Young by a wide margin in the dual distance final. He was an impressive heat winner last week and was even more so last night, winning by more than 11 lengths in 25.71 on a track marked -20.
The quickest of the sprint winners on the night was Mags Star for Glenn Foot, breaking the beam in 14.66. Ryan Buckton had the sole six-bend winner of the night with Troy Robbo, Jason Ray picked up a success with Buzeys Lady with Westfield Vicky landing the other open on the card for Jason Smith.
