Monday's Tips

*** Droopys Suprstar - 9.28 Nottingham 13/8

** Droopys Flotilla - 8.54 Nottingham 2/5

* Gur Gur Granville - 8.36 Nottingham 5/2

It was an excellent day for Mike Burton on Sunday and he can continue the winning feeling this evening at Nottingham courtesy of Droopys Suprstar. He was electric over this course and distance in a pair of wins in early September and should be able to take control of the inside on the run to the opening bend. Teddie is a smart type who is going to keep him honest late on, but he ought to have pulled out more than enough of a lead by the third bend to have this in safekeeping.

Droopys Flotilla is used to poor draws these days, a railer who is regularly drawn in the middle. She landed her St Leger heat from trap four at Dunstall Park, setting what was at that stage a new track record. She has beaten her main danger tonight - Vale Bluebell - in a couple of recent meetings at this track, one of those over this 730m distance. Boasting some excellent early gears for a stayer, she'll be short but should be in front on the longer run to the bend over the extended six-bend trip and can maintain the gallop.

Arriving at Nottingham without a prior look is not always the way to go but Gur Gur Granville produced a winning run in the opening round of the Scurry at Dunstall Park without a look. He exited the competition at the semi-final stage behind Rioja Oisin but there was no disgrace in that, running up to Armagh Daithi over 480m on Oaks final night subsequently. He has the easier of the two heats of this sprint competition and his four bend form can see him pick them up on the long straight if he makes any bend running mistakes.

Although we are avoiding the 9.11 from a betting point of view, it is the must watch race of the day. Oaks winner Butlers Cabin makes her return to her home track as the sole seeded runner with five railers inside her. Trap five is Derby finalist Sole Mio, trap four the resurgent Chelms Bear who won the Birmingham Cup over this track and trip on his last visit. Three holds Newinn Oscar who has been airborne of late around here for Nathan Hunt with track record holder Droopys Aladdin in trap two. It is a race that would not look out of place as the Eclipse final, let alone a trial stake!
