Friday's Tips

*** Underground Fizz - 8.19 Romford 13/8

** Betweenthesticks - 7.44 Romford 5/2

* Droopys Roșie - 9.46 Romford 7/2

The step up to 575m could be the making of Underground Fizz. She has shown solid form over four bends so far, making the final of the Coral Romford Puppy Cup despite 400m clearly on the short side for her. Although she is not the quickest to stride, her draw tonight sees her between a pair of slow breakers, which could see her on the bunny, a rarity for her. From a repeat mating that produced the likes of Droopys Plunge, more of a stamina test can suit her perfectly.

Commanche is the red-hot favourite for the eight-bend contest at 7.44 but he has not looked a natural around a tight track in the past and he found his re-opposing kennelmate Azzas Angel pulling away from him late on over 661m at Doncaster last time. On the other hand, Matt Dartnell's Betweenthesticks has looked a proper stayer in the making and gets her first chance to confirm that impression here. She's still a puppy for another month and has more potential for better than these.

The final race of the night sees another hot favourite that I want to oppose in Swift Depot. He has flying early pace and will lead up but this is yet to prove a happy hunting ground for him. Droopys Rosie was far too strong for him when they met back in June, and although she has not been in quite the same form since, her performance last week suggested that she might be about to hit her peak again. There is plenty of early pace in her locker and she can control the inside, turn second and come home too strongly for Swift Depot once more.
