Two each for Driver and Lambe at Nottingham

Monday's card at Nottingham saw a brace of winners for both Esther Driver and Ruth Lambe. Mossrich Mossy ended a run of second-place finishes with a win, picking things up as they headed towards the back to pick up his first open and add to an A3 win on his card from back in August.

Driver's second winner came form Some Hiker who has done well since joining the Driver kennel from Rose Draper, winning three of his last four starts. He needed all of the 500m to get himself on top, justifying favouritism in the final stride as he nailed Beverly Heaton's Ballymac Dalton in the shadow of the post.

It looks on paper that the Ruth Lambe team thinks plenty of Santas Tornado, pitching him into the Gymcrack on just his second start for them. While that was too much for him in the early stages of his career, he has landed a pair of top grade wins at Dunstall Park and last night added his maiden open success. He looks a nice recruit and it will be interesting to see how they campaign him for the rest of the year.

There was a dead heat in the final contest of the night as Lambe's Yvonnes Bab crossed the line in unison with Frank Macklin's Barnfield Resort. Lambe's charge was dropped into a sprint for the first time since January, in fine form over 480m at Dunstall Park in April when rattling off a four-timer.

Macklin's runner joined her late on in the contest, the puppy adding to a D3 win at this track. His dam is a full sister to the recently retired Uncle Freddie from the 2020 litter of Burgess Bucks and Ballymac Helena.

The opens kicked off with a win for Jason Gray and Kellies Emerald. His confidence is high at the moment, adding this success to ones at Sheffield and in the first round of the Derby at Towcester, from his last six starts.

The Arc 480 Trophy final lost a lot of its interest when Skeard Daisy May was taken out lame. It was left to The Other Kodi, her rival at the head of the early market, to come home in front for Barry Denby. The winner was taking his 11th victory in 18 starts.
