Peterborough demolition now complete
Peterborough Greyhound Stadium levelled and ready for development

Peterborough ready for development following demolition
The end of an era is finally complete following the demolition of Peterborough Greyhound Stadium.
The Fengate venue opened in the 1930s and hosted greyhound racing until it was forced to close during the Covid-19 pandemic, with the last meeting coming on 19 May, 2020.
Home of big competitions such as the Fengate Collar and Peterborough Puppy Derby, the iconic stadium was sold to Fengate Land Holdings in 2021 and they subsequently gained planning permission for a jobs-creating industrial hub.
With the building closed to the public for five years and the site now completely levelled, construction of the new development can commence.
The building of nine commercial units, each of 99 square metres of floor space, will form the first part of the development and they will be built to the north of the 3.85 hectares site.
Up to 11 industrial units across 12,000 square metres to the south of the stadium site, with car parking and associated works, have also been granted outline permission.
Up to 65 on-site construction jobs are estimated to be created by the development, as well as the 260 jobs when the project is completed.
“The proposals seek to deliver employment development that will provide several economic benefits,” a spokesperson for the applicant previously told Peterborough Telegraph.
"Job opportunities will be provided for residents of Peterborough, in addition to a significant financial contribution being made to the council by way of business rates.”
