Droopys Plunge shines at Towcester
Droopys Plunge reminded us all why he is the Derby champion with an impressive performance at Towcester on Sunday afternoon.
The Patrick Janssens-trained dog rocketed out of trap one and led them into the corner before kicking clear down the far side.
They were strung out like washing in behind as the 2/5 favourite powered home to score by five lengths from Antigua Kestrel in 28.80 (-20).
Baby Warrior won a 500m maiden in good style as she upset the 2/5 favourite Slick Skylark, who finished second.
Carol Weatherall’s bitch took it up off the second bend and stayed on strongly to strike by a length and a half in 29.73 (-20).
Heilbron in the winners at Star Pelaw
There were seven opens at Star Pelaw on Sunday evening and Tom Heilbron landed two of them.
Rebel George initiated the double when springing a 7/1 surprise in a maiden event to score in 26.03, while his kennelmate Dominoh Hoo Hoo (8/11fav) went quicker when making all in 25.90.
Paul Singlewood’s Tinnock Lynx landed odds of 2/7 in good style when winning a maiden sprint in 14.80, while the Jason Smith-trained Westfield Bullet (5/6fav) took the other 245m open by a wide margin in 14.62.
Robert Galloway’s Tommys Oreo justified 8/13 favouritism when taking a 435m in trap-to-line fashion in 26.06, before David Curry's Tromora Meg (5/4fav) was a facile winner from the front in 25.44.
There was one 590m open on the card and that maiden contest went the way of Bombay Fantasy, who made all for Debbie Calvert at 8/11 in 36.46.
