Punters set to gorge on feast of Open Race action across the UK on Saturday Night

Monmore

With heats of the Ladbrokes Gold Cup and Ladbrokes Summers Stayers Classic kicking off at Monmore next Saturday, it should come as no surprise that Monmore have duplicated their 480m and 630m races, essentially acting as Trial Stakes for runners looking to enter in their respective competitions next week with a total of nine Opens on the card.

An interesting contest in the opening contest of the evening. Mike Burton's Droopys Aladdin arrives on the back of a good win at Swindon last week and has good competition form here in the past having reached the Puppy Derby Semi Final in March. Pat Doocey's recent intake King Jackson is a more than capable opponent out wide if able to produce one of his better breaks, as is Aero Pattika. Richie Taberner's runner keeps good company over two bends and could be a threat if trapping well.

Chamberlain Kate was a good winner at Perry Barr last week for Carol Weatherall but lacks a look round, but Maxine Locke's Mr Funky Monk moved well enough in his recent spin and looks to be a promising type.

Glenn Foot's Emilys Superstar and Mike Burton's Droopys Suprstar will look to take the field along in the early stages and if either can build up a decent lead, then they could prove tough to reel in but Kim Billingham-Hine's local runner Blu Bert has been in good form over four bends of late, coming from off the pace to score in two of his last three opens over four bends and the step up to six bends could see further improvement.

Jimmy Fenwick's Coppice Saphire made the final of last week's Angel Of The North and makes her first six bend start since October. She may prove to be stronger now and may not be far away at the finish.

The only non four or six bend contest is the most valuable of the evening, with £1,000 heading to the winner of this 264m category three final.  Dashing Dude suffered a costly defeat in the heats and Frank Bryce's runner will be looking to reverse form with Richie Taberner's Aero Drama, who made all the running, but on the draw alone, Newinn Souly has a cracking draw on the rails for Kim Billingham-Hine and if he can squeeze his way round the opening bends in front, then he could be the one to beat.

Back to four bend action here and it would be a major surprise if Romeo Kingpin isn't a length or two up into the opening bend. The Patrick Janssens runner pinged the lids over course and distance last week and went clear, but was picked up close home and a similar scenario could occur again here courtesy of Ballymac Blanco.

Maxine Locke's runner was an impressive winner last Saturday and if turning in a handy position, he could reel in Romeo Kingpin late. Nathan Hunt's Zebedee Cluasa also showed good early boot when making all the running last week and is ideally housed to challenge again.

All eyes here will focus on Droopys Trade, who makes his first start since June. He reached the quarter finals of the StarSports/TRC Derby having won each of the three previous rounds when leading in the early stages and having moved well enough in a recent look round. Patrick Janssens will be hoping his runner can produce a pleasing performance in his comeback outing as he heads for the Gold Cup next week.

He will need to trap well in order to clear the in-form local runner though, Brian Thompson's Patoka, while the Richard Rees runner Avarua Zlatan can stay on well late and could feature.

Jimmy Fenwick's Ballymac Lineout has won his last three starts over six bends, twice at Newcastle in January and at Sheffield back in February and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him making a winning six bend return here. having stayed on well to win over four bends at Newcastle last time out.

A clear run round the opening bends could see him hitting the front on the final lap and could prove too strong but could face a stiff task by the Patrick Janssens charge Fabulous Heka. She has been off the card since March but on the back of some four bend trials at Towcester and a good trial over six bends here last week, she looks set to make her presence felt.

Jimmy Fenwick could be on the winners podium again here as his Elusivenomore looks to have a relatively straightforward opportunity here. The Gymcrack winner reached the semi final of the Northern Flat at Newcastle before exiting after trouble in running, but was a good winner of his heat when making all the running and that sort of performance again here should see him making all the running for a comfortable success.

Six bend action again here and the interesting runner looks to be the Richie Taberner trained Aero Pepinillo. He was bought to be a six bend runner but having trialed at Oxford so well, connections decided to enter him into the Pall Mall where he reached the semi finals.

This is his six bend debut and if able to clear his rivals in the early stages, then he could take all the beating.

Patrick Godfrey's Arthur Minute was a good runner up last week on her six bend debut and she could have more to offer, as could Amazing Zeus, who has been off since June but kept good company at Towcester and based on recent trials at Hove, then he could make his presence felt here.

Richard Rees's Crossfield Enzo was a beaten finalist in the Pall Mall at Oxford last week when a slow start put paid to his chances of victory. He had shown cracking early pace when scoring in the semi final though and one of those breaks here could see him going close to making all the running.

Likely challenges could arrive from Maxine Locke's Headford Dane, who won the PGR Puppy Derby in unbeaten fashion back in March and based on a trial last week, he looks fit and ready to go and could make a winning comeback, while Patrick Godfrey's Arthur Job is sure to be staying on well at the finish and could pounce if the front runners were to tangle up at any stage.

Central Park

Seven Opens form part of Central Park's 13 race card:

Dave Lee's Bluejig Baron was able to overcome a slow start and early trouble when drawing clear to score over course and distance last week. He can't afford to break in the same fashion in this tougher contest, but a clear run in the early stages could see him too strong for the Maxine Locke's Ballymac Axel, who rates a huge danger, especially if able to trap on terms and gain a clear passage of his own in the early stages.

Dazl Hermes has been in good form at Hove, including when defeating King Memphis, and can't be ruled out if able to lead on the rails.

Proper Dangeress suffered a costly defeat here last week when unable to hit the front in the early stages, but Paul Donovan's runner will be looking to land some compensation for that run with an all the way success here although her odds are likely to be short again.

Dave Puddy's Hasty Lottie finished just behind on that occasion and may not be far away again, while Nick Carter's Barnfield Piper steps up in distance having stayed on well over four of late and could feature at the finish.

Strong running Dreaming Lando is rarely far away in top grade contests over four bends and Luke Morrison's runner could pounce late to take the 1st heat of this Maiden Trophy. Often slow into stride, he could bide his time before challenging rounding the final bends.

Spark Of Magic led for a long way on his four bend debut last week before dropping away late. His fitness may have improved for that run and may just hold on with a similar lead.

Heat two of the Maiden Trophy could go the way of Dan Brabon's Chaddy Boy. Having been off the card since June, he has trialled well at Hove and Romford and could be set for a winning return if in a handy position rounding the final bends.

Nick Carter's Cronody Zuma makes a return to four bends on the back of a top grade sprint win, and could go close if building up a lead of his own.

Purely on the draw, you would have to give serious consideration to Dave Lee's Ontherun Eden. He was an all the way winner over four bends at Romford last time out and if breaking in the same fashion with Fastlane Hoffa likely to move off, then he could have all the room needed to score.

Paul Donovan's Fastlane Hoffa though is two from two since his return to action and could be tough to reel in if able to hit the front again. Ricky Holloway's Mickys Tribute has been mixing it with some of the top sprinters around and is capable of a big run if trapping well.

Six bend action again here which could see Nick Carter's Burgess Sophia landing the hat-trick. She came from off the pace to score in graded action over this distance and if able to keep out of trouble early, she could prove too strong for the likes of Paul Donovan's Wonderful Abi, who looks set to lead on the rails but can often prove to be vulnerable rounding the final bends.

The finale on the card could see Coppice Lizzie getting back to winning ways. Her 28.98 run behind Head Count stands out in this contest and a reproduction of that sort of performance could see Luke Morrison's runner as the one they would have to beat.

Likely danger would be Tintreach Tiny, with Paul Donovan's runner having made all the running last week and she will look to employ similar tactics.

Doncaster

Just the three opens on their nine race card:

The opening open could go the way of the locals with Susan Watson's Reenaderry Road the one they have to beat. He was narrowly denied in his hat-trick bid last time out but this slight step up in distance will suit and if in striking distance rounding the final bends, then he can get back to winning ways and looks to be a strong fancy.

David Fradgley has been in good form this year and his Stonepark Wes could boost his figures further here. He made all the running when last here in early July, and if able to hit the front in the early stages again, then he looks to have every chance of making all the running again.

Jimmy Gaskin's Swift Jeromo looks to be the main danger. He was denied in his hat-trick bid last time out but can do things either way and could be a danger if close enough at any stage.

The incredible Acomb Felix will be looking to make it eight wins in a row with victory here, and Kevin Ferguson's track record holder over course and distance, will take all the beating with another of his usual fast starts.

The main danger could be David Fradgley's Tiermana Rocky, who has won well here in the past and could be an obstacle if producing one of his better breaks.
