The petition against the greyhound racing ban in Wales has taken a boost from horse racing as trainer Kim Bailey calls for support of the Valley.

Racehorse trainer Kim Bailey has lent his support to the petition which challenges the controversial ban on greyhound racing in Wales.
Bailey's Blog which can be read via https://www.kimbaileyracing.com/baileys-blog/ calls on horse racing as a whole to get behind its canine counterparts with the Gold Cup and Grand National-winning trainer believing that the ban sets a dangerous precedent which has implications for horse racing and follows first minister Rhun ap Iorwerth failing to respond to a question about the future of jump racing in Wales recently.
Bailey's Blog says: "Last year, greyhound racing was leveraged as a political chip during budget negotiations, placing its legacy at risk. Under growing pressure from those who oppose animal sports, we must unite to protect not just greyhound racing, but all breeds involved in sporting, working, and companionship roles.
"Even the most stringent welfare standards won’t satisfy those who seek to sever the bond between humans and animals. If legislation against greyhound racing is fully implemented, it could set a dangerous precedent for all sporting animals and that includes horse racing.
"Plaid Cymru has quite a few members of the Senedd who want to ban horseracing too. We hope that won’t happen, but they may well test the water with a ban on point to pointing.
"We are calling on the horse racing community to stand with us. Help us reach our goal of 10,000 signatures for our petition to be considered by the Senedd’s Petitions Committee. We are nearing 7,000 signatures, but we need your support to push us over the finish line."
