Select Stakes part of Nottingham double-header once more
Nottingham has confirmed details of the Arena Racing Company Select Stakes - the prestigious one-off won last year by Wicky Ned.
The 500m contest will take place on Bank Holiday Monday on August 31 and will once again share the stage with the Puppy Classic final for a brilliant double-header at the Colwick Park venue.
Entries for the Select Stakes will close at 1pm on Friday, August 21, after which a panel of Greyhound Writers' Association members will choose the runners for the £12,500-to-the-winner to be confirmed by August 25.
Nottingham general manager David Evans said: "The Bank Holiday Monday meeting here is one of our biggest of the year.
"The fact we are staging both the Select Stakes and Puppy Classic just gives added spice to the day as we celebrate the established stars of the track - and those younger runners aspiring to become champions, too.
"We are once again looking forward to the GWA choosing the field. Some years that's an easy process, they tell me, and some years it can be tougher given the entry of largely top-class runners with form in major competitions.
"Either way the Select Stakes has a fabulous history and we are proud and honoured to be staging it again."
