Sheffield aim to add marriages to their greyhound venue
Owlerton Stadium in Sheffield are seeking permission to conduct marriages and civil partnerships at their greyhound track.

Sheffield bid to become a marriage venue
Sheffield's greyhound track has made an application to become a marriage venue.
Owlerton Stadium has applied to Sheffield City Council for permission to conduct marriages and civil partnerships.
Providing the application is successful, a registrar would be able to conduct the ceremonies at the Penistone Road venue seven days a week, between 8am and 7pm.
A public notice published on August 7 reads: “Any person wishing to object to the intended application may do so by letter - stating in full the grounds on which the objection is based - addressed to the Licensing Service, Block C, Staniforth Road Depot, Staniforth Road, Sheffield, S9 3HD.
“Any such letter must arrive by August 27 2025 not less than 21 clear days after the date of advertisement of this notice.”
Further details, including plans which identify the rooms where marriages may be held, can be found by contacting the city’s Licensing Service.
Renowned as one of the busiest tracks in the country, the stadium has a modern glass-fronted Panorama Restaurant accommodating up to 300 people, executive suites, fast food facilities and a number of bars. As well as greyhound racing, the venue also holds stock car racing events and speedway races.
In November 2019, the stadium opened a new £6 million conference centre and executive suite facility. 'OEC Sheffield' has become one of the city’s best-loved entertainment venues and boasts adaptable event spaces to comfortably accommodate small, intimate events, all the way to large events for up to 500 guests.
