Premier Greyhound Racing Classic winner Bramble Linton retired

Bramble Linton, who tasted big race success back in November when landing the final of the Premier Greyhound Racing Classic at Sunderland, has been retired following an injury picked up at Towcester when competing in the first round of the Greyhound Racing UK Northamptonshire Sprint.

Linton, who was trained in the later part of his career by Newcastle trainer Chloe Hardy, also made the final of the Ladbrokes Winter Maiden Final at Monmore last February and finished third in the final of the Arena Racing Company Scurry Gold Cup Final at Perry Barr in October behind Rioja Oisin.

A winner of 11 races from 23 starts in the UK since arriving from Ireland, he also picked up victories at 6 different venues with victories at Newcastle, Monmore, Sheffield, Perry Barr, Nottingham and of course Sunderland, the majority of which were under former trainer Steven Anderson, father of Hardy, and it was Anderson who provided the update on Linton

He said “He’s fine and well and good in himself, he suffered a broken hock at Towcester and had his operation last Tuesday where he had 3 pins put in, but he’s made himself at home on the sofa now and is comfortable in his cast. Although it shouldn’t be, its part and parcel of racing I’m afraid”
