Suffolk Downs doubles for Brown and Ray
There were seven open races at Suffolk Downs on Tuesday, with doubles on the card for Michelle Brown and Jason Ray.

Suffolk Downs hosts final opens of 2025
It's been a crazy couple of months since Suffolk Downs reopened for Michelle Brown, closing out the year with another brace of open class winners on Tuesday. Bucking Bucks has been a regular scorer at the track, showing his trademark early speed to quickly put a 388m contest to bed in a decent 23.75. It was his fifth win at the track since the restart.
34.02 was a smart sole winning time of the day over six bends and it was another Brown inmate who got the job done, though not the one that the market suspected. Golden Palace was sent off the odds-on favourite but it was Savana Cosmic who showed the best dash to the opening bend and he was always going to hold his kennelmate.
Jason Ray also saw a double on the card with his runners at opposite ends of the spectrum. Ray's first winner was in the sole sprint open on the card with Savana Pink. She got up in the nick of time to deny the hot favourite Amys Gem for Jason Gornall.
Savana Clowns took the 716m race, hitting the front much earlier than is often the case with her. 46.09 was the winning time which is a long way short of what she has produced in the past but she was not troubled to go any faster, her kennelmate Intrepidity keeping on to grab second late but six lengths adrift.
Kevin Boon was responsible for the quickest four bend winner on the card in the form of Bockos Frankel in 23.68. Given that he missed the start and then paced up into trouble at the opening bend, his winning time will have raised a few eyebrows in terms of how quick could he go? It was certainly a remarkable UK debut, maintaining his unbeaten record after a perfect 3/3 in Ireland.
Westfield Vicky made it five wins in six starts since the reopening of the track with a fluent display from the front to clock an identical 23.75 to Bucking Bucks. Four of those wins have come in opens for Jason Smith, yet she was allowed to go off at 12/1 which was a nice Christmas bonus for connections!
The final open on the card went to Jason Gornall's Anna Bella. She showed the best pace up and then dug deep up the run-in to hold off the challenge of Savana Ribena. It was her race debut, showing that there is plenty to work with in 2026.
