Sunday Open Report – Towcester, Star Pelaw and Valley - 11 August 2025
We take a look over the Sunday open race action from Towcester, Star Pelaw and Valley.

Double at Towcester for Mark Wallis
It was a light afternoon of action in terms of open racing at Towcester where three of the four open contests went to odds on chances. Two of those were from the Wallis kennel with Kilmore Dancer and Vermithor both coming home in front at short odds.
The former clocked a flying 28.65, returning to a similar level of form that he had shown earlier on in the year when making the Blue Riband final. It has taken a while for Vermithor to break his duck, but the December 23 puppy got the job done and should be able to go on from this.
Over six bends, Bank Of Granda continued her winning ways for Mattie Richards. She has picked up a hat-trick of successes over the 712m distance with a 15.89 sectional setting strong early fractions for her rivals to follow. Savannahheroubreio was the other open race winner, scoring for Diane Henry.
Superstar half of a Star Pelaw double for Glenn Foot
A36.12 success over 590m for Emilys Superstar saw her add her name into the top 20 times this year over six bends at Star Pelaw for the fifth time. A semi-finalist in both the Arena Racing Company Grand Prix at Sunderland and Angel of the North, she has won six of her seven starts over this trip in 2025.
Foot's double was started with Dreamin Porcha, landed a 435m contest in 25.60. That was an effort only 21 spots off the quickest of the year so far and a third win in her last four starts for the ex-Kevin Hutton inmate, another Angel of the North semis-finalist.
Two sprints on the card produced solid times. The long drive up from Essex proved fruitful for Darren Whitton who saw his Moaning Hearns home in 14.58 while Stuart Tighe picked up the other sprint in 14.64 with Birtley Hoopstar.
Tom Heilbron added his name to the list of winning trainers courtesy of Lightfoot Jamie with the other open contest on the evening going to Yates for Vincent Lund.
Donna Davy with a Valley treble
Four opens on the morning card at Valley saw domination from Donna Davy. Pick of those was Loot And Shoot who added his name to the scoresheet once more. While he was not close to his very best times this year (has the top time of the year) he picked up his 11th win of the year.
Susies Return and Ballymac Kuro were the other two winners for Davy with the first open race on the card going the way of Hawkfield Scar for Anna Jeffrey, his sixth sub 16-second time of the year.
