There is open race action this afternoon at both Towcester and Sheffield with trial stakes for the Steel City Cup at the latter venue.

*** Drombeg Flash - 3.32 Towcester
** Magical Keith - 3.44 Sheffield
* Brinkleys Louis - 5.56 Sheffield
Drombeg Flash has been given some tough tasks since in three starts since joining Michelle Brown, only beaten four lengths in a heat of the Premier Greyhound Racing St Leger won by finalist Venetian Mick on his debut for the kennel. He has twice chased home Underground Navy at Romford over 750m since, that sharper track not a natural help to him. Towcester should suit far better and this is by far the easiest contest that he has been in since joining the kennel.
Last week did not show Magical Keith to best effect over 500m at Sheffield. Not away as quick as he can be before getting a rub on the way to the opening corner from Betgoodwin Tutts. He meets Diane Henry's dog again here but the pair are drawn the other way around which is going to suit him perfectly, and if he traps like he can, he will be away and gone.
It's fair to say that Brinkleys Louis is not an easy dog to win with. He has been running more than respectably of late at Star Pelaw, however, behind the likes of Sunnyside Gurkha and this time last year was a finalist in the Birmingham Cup. He trialled well enough on his first look here and has a dream draw as the sole seeded runner with four railers and a vacant trap inside of him.
