Whittingham Kennels need help raising funds for Ace
Retired greyhound Ace has been found to have and autoimmune condition that is attacking his spine.

Whittingham Kennels require help with Ace
Ace is only an August 2022 whelp. He had issues in training with keeping weight on but tests done couldn't pinpoint an issue. He was retired, then rehomed by Whittingham Kennels and shortly after, his problems worsened.
Whittingham themselves take up the story:
"Medivet were wonderful and saw him immediately. He was given multiple painkillers and further tests showed potential liver issues for which he had a scan. These results were OK and we now know that this was due to inflammation in his muscles which can also show up in the liver readings.
"After multiple trips to the vet where he ranged from pulling strongly around the waiting room to having to be carried to the car, it became clear that he needed to be referred for further investigation. His adopters have been wonderful throughout and so very understanding and dedicated to Ace's care.
"He gained weight at the front end of his body but was wasting away at the back, despite their best efforts and his appetite being good. He was still crying in pain despite all the painkillers too.
On Monday, we made the trip to Davies specialists where he was admitted for an MRI and further tests. They have been wonderful and kept us informed along the way. The level of care and expertise is wonderful and Ace has been diagnosed with an immune mediated condition where his body is attacking his spine (for no defined reason).
"We collected him tonight and he has steroids and painkillers to get this inflammation under control. His prognosis is good if he responds well and he is no longer crying in pain, although is still weak. He travelled calmly home and we are hopeful this weakness will improve as he responds to the treatment."
The cost of all of the tests and visits to specialists has wiped out the rainy day funds that Whittingham Kennels had for emergencies. There has been a gofundme launched to help Whittingham replenish their emergency funds to help other retired greyhounds in the future.
