Monmore on Saturday night will host another Category One double header with the finals of the Ladbrokes Gold Cup and the Ladbrokes Summer Stayers Classic headlining an excellent evening of action.

Ladbrokes Gold Cup

The 480m final is just the more competitive of the pair if the market is to be believed, with the top three in the betting separated by just three-quarters of a point.

There was a single spot between the competition wins of Woltemade and Slingshot Poppy at Newcastle on July 23 with Jimmy Fenwick's runner just coming out on top with his Time Northern Flat win over Brian Fairbairn's Arc Angel of the North victor, though of course the latter had been quicker the week before in the respective semis.

The 2025 champion Headford Dane is third in the market in a final where there are just two railers, and the other one is 16/1 outsider Grouchos Gregor. Scooby Diamond adds some more early pace to the mix through the middle, and Headford Cian isn't short of pace as an Arc Silver Salver finalist. Grouchos Gregor is the outsider but he has shown plenty of ability in very little UK race action.

2/1 Woltemade

9/4 Slingshot Poppy

11/4 Headford Dane

8/1 Headford Cian, Scooby Diamond

16/1 Grouchos Gregor

Ladbrokes Summer Stayers Classic

The 630m decider is no less fascinating, with just 19 races over six bends for five of them combined, with only Tooreen Rose an experienced performer over staying trips.

Zenith Pasha has enjoyed an outstanding start to his staying career, winning four of his five starts, all coming over this track and trip. He was due to make his staying debut in a race on the undercard of the Time 3 Steps to Victory at Sheffield, a competition which his main market rival Fortanach Col won.

The traps failed to open on that occasion, with the race being abandoned but that afternoon saw. the birth of a potential staying star in Kelly Wilton's runner who made his six-bend debut in the final of that Cat One competition, going on to take the glory in one of the most emotional wins this year.

In Droopys Deploy and Droopys Bookem, the race has an Irish Derby finalist and an English Derby semi-finalist to add into the mix. Tooreen Rose, as mentioned, is the one with the most experience over this sort of trip, while Betgoodwin Tutts is an unexposed type who should still have better to come.

2/1 Zenith Pasha

5/2 Fortanach Col

9/2 Droopys Bookem, Tooreen Rose

6/1 Droopys Deploy

12/1 Betgoodwin Tutts
