Treble for Brown at Suffolk Downs

There were seven opens on the night at Suffolk Downs with Team Brown coming away with a hat-trick of winners. Golden Acre was the pick of them on the clock and in beating her own kennelmate Essex Abbigail in the process, saw off the strongest rival of the three. The pair dominated the contest, with the winner on the better of the ground around the outside, a theme that continued through the evening.

Bucking Bucks is a hardy type, winning for the sixth time in his last seven starts. He has the early needed to get away and gone around this venue, using those tactics to perfection once more.

The treble was completed by Goldcash Prince. Still a pup, he has graded wins over both two and four bends at Towcester, and has quickly adapted to this new and very different track to pick up an open at the second time of asking.

There was a double on the night for Jason Ray, including the sole winner from the red jacket. That was Savana Ribena whose stamina got her on top late, coming widest of all around the final bend, she finished the race off best.

Savana Flamma took the sprint open on the card, pacing up on top at the bend. She has a Star Pelaw open win to her credit as well as multiple top grade sprint successes at Oxford, so it wasn't a surprise that she appreciated the drop back having run over 388m for her first nine starts at the track.

Over six bends, the pick of the runs came from Jason Smith's Westfield Vicky. Like Bucking Bucks, she has been flying since the track reopened, matching his six wins in seven starts record to boot. It was her fourth open win in a row, two over four bends and two over this 548m test. and the ninth overall for her career.

The first open on the card was the biggest surprise for punters, with Harlequin Zapper doing the business for Kelli Windebank at 9/1. He picked up his win in the blue jacket, so he is entitled to have the run marked up a bit given the going plus his lack of experience at the circuit.

A Kibble brace at Oxford

It was back-to-back days with open class racing at Oxford where the drop back down to the 450m distance was no issue for Eagles Respect. The bet365 Challenge Cup finalist at the track last month used his stamina to good effect, getting on top late onto close out a quickfire double for Kibble.

The opening leg had come in the prior contest where Ballymac Andre picked up the first open race success of his career at the first attempt. He had run 85 times in graded company at Swindon prior to last night.

Dog Dog picked up a win for Kevin Hutton, holding off the strong-running Malcolm Bosh, who had found trouble at a crucial time. The winner is a March 24 pup, getting off the mark at the ninth time of asking.

Another pup to score on the card was Letter Mac for Matt Dartnall. She is a month younger than Dog Dog, grabbing her third win of her career from the front. Those early gears will continue to stand her in good stead.

Both David Lewis and Barrie Backhurst had winners on the Monday opens at the track, following suit yesterday afternoon. The former had Drews Fantasy score for him, the multiple top grade winner was another who went from the front. The latter closed out the card with a success form Always Hoffa who was picking up her third win on the bounce after a pair of A2s.

Miss Newbury was the other winner on the card, representing Diane Yeates. She's made a bright start to her career, winning half of her first 16 races, getting off the mark in opens at the first attempt.

Blackbird double at Pelaw

Dean Blackbird won two of the four opens at Star Pelaw last night with Murhur Bolger and Zoos Zamboni. The first of those has been finding Sunderlands' 450m a shade too far, runner-up three times on the bounce in A3 grade there, getting picked up late on each time.

The second was the biggest priced winner on the card at 16/1, adding a sprint open success to his one over four bends at the track in November.

The other sprint open on the card went to Robert Galloway's Gallarus Sniper. It was his UK debut but brought up a hat-trick of wins after landing his final two starts at Tralee back in October.

Chippy Chase bounced back to winning ways for Colin Watson in the other 435m contest, coming away best and never looking like coming back.
