Banksies Five to Follow- Friday 29th August
Each week I’ll be looking to find Five Puppies who have caught the eye in graded in action in the last week who could be worth following in the coming weeks.
No winners from the three selections that ran this week, but plenty of recent selections through August have been winning, including Ballymac Decky, making it three wins from five starts and Fabulous Naomi, who made it two wins from three starts when landing an open race at Towcester on Sunday

Moving on to this week:
BALLYMAC CEDRICK: Ran from Trap 1 in the 3.19pm at Swindon on Friday 22nd August
Trainer Angie Kibble has done this column plenty of favours in the past with her pups going through the grades and she may have another one worth keeping an eye on in the coming weeks at Swindon.
Ballymac Cedrick produced a good burst of early pace on his debut outing in A3 to hit the front into the first bend, but just moved off a little, bumping into the runner in trap five but didn’t lose any ground in doing so, and off the second bend, had built up a lead of two lengths
Heading into the third bend, that lead had extended to around three lengths and didn’t look in any danger from any rival behind staying on, and if anything, pulled away from the pack, and was able to cross the line in front for a three and three quarter length victory in 28.34 at 9/2
Apart from moving off at the first bend, Ballymac Cedrick stayed close to the rails and will be hopeful of the red jacket in his double bid next time out. If railing round the opening bends better, then a bold bid looks to be on the cards
CLOHEENA DEL BOY: Ran from Trap 4 in the 3.38pm at Hove on Sunday 24th August
Seamus Cahill’s January 24 youngster Cloheena Del Boy gained his first victory in this A4 contest in his third start at Hove on Sunday in a style where there may be more to come in the coming weeks
Having trapped well enough, he suffered some crowding on the run to the first bend and dropped back to fourth rounding the opening bends but wasn’t too far away from the leaders.
He made steady progress down the back, moving into third and having avoided a little trouble at the third bend, he then moved into second and set his sights on the leader. Staying on well, he was able to pounce close home to score in 30.09 (+10) at odds of 11/4
That was a decent enough performance and looks more than capable of scoring again next time out, especially if gaining a clearer passage in the early stages
YAHOO CLEO: Ran from Trap 3 in the 2.23pm at Romford on Tuesday 26th August
Katie O’Flaherty’s April 24 youngster was a good runner up on her debut outing in an A11 contest and showed that a win may not be far away
Having trapped in fourth, Yahoo Cleo showed decent enough pace into the first bend but had a slight coming together with her rival in trap five at that point.
From the second bend she disputed for second place but she had the runner in trap one on her inside and was unable to pass her until the last bend, when she had to overcome a little bump from that runner, but stayed on well enough to finish second, a length and a half behind the winner at 9/1
That was a promising run and looks sure to improve on that run next time out and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see her going one place better in a similar A11
GREYSTONE TOM: Ran from Trap 6 in the 11.43am at Nottingham on Wednesday 27th August
Jim Daly’s March 24 youngster took advantage of a drop in grade having finished down the field on debut previously and there was a lot to like about this performance in A7 on Wednesday.
Having trapped moderately in third, Greystone Tom tried to move in on the run to the first bend but couldn’t clear his rival in the orange jacket, and at the first bend, had a slight coming together with the same runner, and as result, came out of the second bend still in third place, but a good five lengths off the leaders.
From the third bend though he started to stay on well, and with the two leaders up front doing each other no favours between the last couple of bends, he was able to make up the ground and heading on the run for home, he was just over a length off the pace.
At this point, again showing a liking to cut down the middle, he chose to do so instead of challenging out wide, and was able to reel in the leader, staying on well to win going away by a length in 30.67 (+70) at 15/8.
This was a likeable performance from Greystone Tom and he could be one to follow in the coming weeks, especially if drawn further in than trap six
MOODY RUDY : Ran from Trap 2 in the 3.57pm at Hove on Wednesday 27th August
Gemma Byford’s Moody Rudy made a winning debut over four bends in good style on Wednesday and looks like she may have more to offer in her next few outings
Having only had one previous outing in a D2 contest on July 23rd, Byford clearly wanted to step her February 24 youngster up in trip quickly, and following a couple of trials, she landed in A8.
When the traps opened, she made a bee-line for the rails from trap two, and having missed her break, she showed good early pace to the first bend. At that point she just moved off and bumped into the runner in trap three but took up the lead and accelerated clear.
That lead extended down the back and heading into the third bend, she was a good six lengths clear of her rivals and in no danger of being reeled in. The runner in trap three gave chase and reduce the margin down to two and three quarter lengths when crossing the line but the race had already been won, recording a time of 30.15 (+10) at odds of 5/2
The likelihood is that she will go up a couple of grades for that victory, but that was her first race for a month and may have more to come despite a rise in grades, especially if able to produce a better break
