Driver and Tighe grab doubles at Nottingham
There were just four open races at Nottingham on Monday night with two of them won by Stuart Tighe, including with his smart sprinter Good Acclaim and two by Esther Driver.
Tighe and Driver double up at Nottingham
It is becoming a real pleasure to watch Good Acclaim in action, picking up his seventh win from nine starts for Stuart Tighe. He is now a perfect 4/4 over the 305m distance at this track, with one of his defeats having given it a really good go when stepped up to four bends for a heat of the Ladbrokes Puppy Derby.
He was kept honest all the way to the bend last night by his litter sister Good Chloe before his class told, with 17.56 the second quickest that he has stopped the clock in. It will be interesting to see how he goes when connections step him up into a sprint competition to take on better opponents, but the impression is that he will cope just fine.
Brickhill Tamika gave Tighe a double in a second sprint, adding to a D2 win at Star Pelaw the start before. That was done in a very smart time for the 245m, so he looked well worth the step up in class. He only went a length and three-quarters slower than his better known kennelmate had in the race before.
There was also a double on the evening for Esther Driver. Tromora Jenny was the quicker of the two winners, keeping on well to pick up her kennelmate Rathcoole Reds late on. That runner looked set to come back to form with a win, well supported in the market but he was not strong enough to see off the winner.
The Driver double was brought up by Available who was another to pick up the long time leader late in the piece. An A1 and A2 winner at the track for the kennel since coming over, she had shown some solid enough form at Shelbourne, including when tried over six bends. She was sent straight over six on her debut for this kennel as well so options could be open to her.
