Four for Hutton at Towcester on Sunday

Towcester sees Hutton grab a four-timer

It was a remarkable afternoon for Kevin Hutton at Towcester, not only picking up four winners from the seven open races but having all three of the 500m winners ended up clocking an identical 29.09!

Signet Nayla landed the win in a bitches contest, clearing the field from her outside berth with her excellent early pace which saw her avoid all of the trouble that happened behind her at the opening bend. She is now a perfect 3/3 since coming back from a short break following a fall at Monmore. 

There were some nice types lining up in a puppy race which went to Jazzy Dancer. She was another who showed by far the best early pace, clocking a flying 3.78 split which saw her comfortably clear by the time they got to the opening bend. The October whelp has won three of her six starts.

Another who is still at the start of his career for Hutton is Southfield Hugo who was winning on just his second outing for the kennel, having taken the win on his debut at Newbridge back in February. A half-brother to the likes of Boylesports Bob and Getup Me Boy, he looks a well above average recruit.

The 460m winner for Hutton was the opening one of the day in Strideon Clara. She was slow into stride but things opened up beautifully around the opening turn, slipping around the inside into second. Her back straight pace blew her rivals away as she came home almost six lengths to the good. 

The one winner that eluded Hutton that was fully expected in the market was  ex-460m track record holder Start The Engine. He did not come away as well as he can which allowed Michelle Brown's Tomahawk to get first run on him, failing by a short head. to claw that front-runner back.

Brown had a double on the card, kicked off by Roanna Mamba. He was sent off the 1/5 favourite in a race that he was fully expected to win, perhaps having to work a touch harder than expected by his kennelmate Essex Gunner. It was a 32nd win for the sprinter which have come from 68 starts, a stunning 47% strike rate. 

David Lewis picked up the other winner on the afternoon courtesy of Alright Bullet. It was his first start since losing his puppy status, showing the best speed to the opening turn to clear his three rivals that were all drawn inside of him. This was a third straight win at the track for him. 

Diane Henry doubles up at Sheffield

Grouchos Cossie looked to have a gilt-edged opportunity to get back in the win column for Diane Henry at Sheffield. He had to work a little harder than his odds suggested he would early on as Esther Driver's Mossrich Mossy had snuck around in front of him. The winner had the second in his crosshairs by the time they got to the third bend, however, grabbing the lead halfway around the final two turns. 

Henry also scored with Savana Pinatubo who had to come from a little bit off the pace to grab the money in a race where his kennelmate Betgoodwin Ben turned in the traps once more before doing all sorts of running to only be beaten 12 lengths. 

Kelly Hodson got on the scoresheet with Romeo Force. He had run a corker at Dunstall Park at their centenary meeting when runner-up to Signet Nayla despite turning last. The Truframe Champion Stakes winner was away and gone back on his home track.

A sprint contest went to Sean Davy's Trewmunt Slippy, making it three for three since joining the kennel. He showed the best speed into the turn to grab the lead from Here Comes Bob. Runner-up was solid yardstick Colliers Bucholz who helps to set the level of the form having missed his break.

The other open on the card went to Alien Glen who justified his position as favourite in a four-runner puppy contest for Stephen Naylor. Despite only having the four runners, it was a messy contest early on. The winner rode a bump in the run-up and around the opening bend before kicking on down the back.
