Friday's Tips

*** Bower Sheeran - 8.17 Sunderland 13/8

** Santas Amigo - 8.36 Sunderland 11/4

* Racenight Jane - 7.08 Sunderland 9/2

Bower Sheeran is taking a step forward with each start, both of his wins coming when he has been sporting the red jacket. He looks to have a beautiful make up on the rails this evening with a middle runner outside him in two. He dipped under 27 seconds on his most recent start and shapes as if there is going to be plenty more to come from him as he continues to mature. This is the toughest task set him in his short career so far but he should come through it with flying colours.

All eyes in the Premier Greyhound Racing Classic will be drawn to the third semi-final as Romeo Steel takes on Slingshot Poppy, the two at the head of the ante-post market going head-to-head. That is a tough to call race and a better bet in the Classic looks to be Santas Amigo in the opening semi. He was less than four lengths behind Romeo Steel in the opening round despite fluffing his break and getting a bump at the opening turn. Back in June he produced 4.93 and 4.94 sectionals here, so he is more than capable of trapping out better, and if he does, then he is going to be hard to hold.

The opening contest of the night at Sunderland is a wide open looking race. Zenith Impact was only 5/1 in a heat of the Premier Greyhound Racing Classic last week but moved off badly at the opening bend which could spell some trouble. Bogger Darling has moved left from five in the past, and while Optic Pharaoh has the quickest time here on the card, it stands out like a sore thumb against the rest of his efforts here which are all 10 lengths slower. As such, Racenight Jane could prove to be well berthed on the wide outside. Brian Fairbairn's bitch shaped well enough in a recent trial to be plenty competitive enough at decent odds.
