Slingshot Poppy is the ante-post market leader for the Premier Greyhound Racing Classic and she can show why with a fluent win to kick off her competition at Sunderland this evening. She led for a long way in the Oaks final at Dunstall Park but this slightly easier four-bend trip suits her perfectly, producing the quickest 450m time of 2025 here and she leads the way again this year.

There has been a serious impression made by Glengar Phantom in his two wins so far for Tom Heilbron, both at Newcastle. He has torn his fields apart with some serious early pace there which suggests this track will suit his style. He is entitled to come on plenty for his first look at the venue in a recent trial (a time that was very smart anyway) and can get away and gone early on the outside. 

One drawn right on the inside now in Ballymac Buddy who could be one of the best drawn dogs of the night. He has plenty of early pace at his disposal as well as some smart times here in the past. He has the Juvenile Classic winner Arthur Bitter drawn to his immediate right, another who boasts smart gears to the bend, but it is a bend he has never seen before and any moving off can allow the selection the rails to himself.
