Although Tiffield Tarquin was beaten almost five lengths in his heat, he still clocked a very smart finishing time of 29.18 behind Scooby The Lady. He sported the orange jacket that day as he does here and with his main danger walking out the only prior time that he has sported the red jacket, the wide runner can take control from the second bend and his stamina can win him the day.
One greyhound who loves the red jacket is Sussex Cyclone. She has won six of her seven starts with it on her back at this track, beating Sussex Cup champion Smokestack Saxon while wearing it as well as dual Category One finalist Droopys Alldeway. With the two moving middle plus four and five moving rails, she has the perfect draw to exploit with her early pace.
Copney Queen could do with a change of luck and this afternoon could be set up perfectly for her. She made the final of the Sussex Cup here over the longer four-bend trip and has been seen recently getting to the semis of the Premier Greyhound Racing Oaks, a race where she had a great chance to qualify at the third bend before being forced to check. With a rails mover inside of her and a slow starter outside, she has a perfect launchpad to score.
