Two trebles on Thursday night at Hove
There were trebles for both Belinda Green and Paul Young on Thursday night at Hove from just nine open races in total.
Oaks finalist Raebella Bullet was the top winner for Green, pacing up the best to the bend over 500m. moving to the rails from a middle slot, while her main danger was slower to stride. She had overcome wider starting positions that three in the past, notably in the opening round of the Coral Olympic when sporting the orange jacket, and once in front, it would've taken an almighty run to bring her back.
Another winner over four bends was Montalto Gift. Things got tight around the opening bend but she got herself to the front to justify her position at the head of he market. She has kept solid company at the track so far, winning for the second time in six starts for Green.
Broncos Bullet was the quicker of the two six-bend winners on the card to bring up Green's hat-trick. He was another who got on the bunny at an early stage, beating a better fancied pair in Alright Patricia and Dereks Legend, showing plenty of determination to maintain the gallop.
It was Droopys Alldeway that led the way for Paul Young, clocking the pick of the 500m times on the night. It was a brave performance as he was harried the entire way by Brunch Pal who has shown smart form so far in his time with Dave Lee. A head was the official margin with more than five lengths back to the third.
Rapido Rosin has really found her stride in recent weeks, bringing up a hat-trick of wins for Young. She didn't produce quite the same level of sectional as she has been of late, although the track was on the slow side. It was still more than enough to see her go around in front and once more suggest that there is a decent prize in her at some point.
Young's hat-trick was kicked off with the 16/1 success of Bowmers Sheeran. Clona Kody looked one of the best drawn dogs on the card and led up but the winner was always in stalking mode, coming home the stronger of the pair. A Romford Puppy cup semi-finalist last September, it was his first success since later on that month.
There was a veteran race on the card with Ricky Holloway's Dazl Hermes coming out on top. He had chased Clairkeith Santi home in that runner's retirement race last week after a trip to Star Pelaw to test out the hurdles. That journey north has seen him find his winning touch again, holding on front Uncle Freddie.
Richard Rees got himself a winner after those near misses with Clona Kody and Uncle Freddie courtesy of Avarua Sarah in the final race on the card. She had to work a little harder to score than the market expected, headed before coming back again to land the money late on.
A second six-bend race on the card went to Jason Heath's Hopes Candy. She is producing real consistency over the longer trip of late, with this her third win in her last five starts, beaten a neck in one of the others. Like last week, she got up late in the day, shaping as if even further would suit.
