Monmore looking at a quality entry for their Cat One events
The Ladbrokes Winter Derby and Golden Jacket start on Saturday evening at Monmore. The entries for both close tomorrow at 11am.

Early signs are good for quality entry at Monmore
Monmore is expecting a quality entry across the board as the Wolverhampton track prepares to host a major big-race double header this weekend.
Saturday sees the start of both the Ladbrokes Winter Derby and Ladbrokes Golden Jacket, two Category One events, for which entries close at 11am on Wednesday.
Incidentally, the Ladbrokes Racing Golden Jacket this year returns to its traditional title having been a Premier Greyhound Racing-backed event in recent years.
Monmore hosted a last trials session for Winter Derby and Golden Jacket hopefuls yesterday and racing manager Tony Williamson issued a rallying cry for entries!
“It’s certainly a last call out to trainers for entries,” he said, “but the early signs have been really good and the quality seen in trials and our prep races has been exceptional.”
The Ladbrokes Winter Derby (480m) and Ladbrokes Golden Jacket (684m) kick off on Saturday, with semis a week later, and a gala card planned for Saturday, February 21.
“These double headers work well for us and staging two massive finals such as the Winter Derby and Golden Jacket makes February 21 one of the biggest nights of our year.
“It’s a celebration of both the fastest four-bend performers and top-class stayers and moving the Golden Jacket from May to February has given us a chance to mirror what we do in the summer with the Ladbrokes Summer Stayers Classic and Ladbrokes Gold Cup on the same night.
“And, of course, we still have the Puppy Derby to come here in the last two weeks of March.”
