Rees has them all dancing to his disco in the Cesarewitch

The two winners of the Arena Racing Company Cesarewitch were split by just six spots to set up an outstanding final next Saturday night at Central Park.

Deadly Disco is quickest in the Cesarewitch

For the length of the back straight last night, it looked like we could be set for a classic clash between Deadly Disco and Mongys Wild in the first of the two semis of the Arena Racing Company Cesarewitch. While Richard Rees's wide runner went clear, the Mark Wallis-trained runner found trouble at the turn and then suffered from even worse bumping at the third bend.

Mongys Wild did well to trim the gap to six lengths given how much trouble he found, though the winner produced a winning time that was two spots quicker than Mongys Wild had in the quickest of the heat wins last week before the going came into play. Burgess Sophia picked up third place late on, the strong stayer claiming a place in the final for Nick Carter.

Patrick Janssesns won the other semi-final with Romeo Empire. He set his stall out on the run to the opening bend, showing the best pace to lead up and was always doing enough to fend off Princess Matilda for Gemma Evans who ran a corker to always keep him honest and restrict the winning margin to half a length. Crafty Prospero is a strong stayer and grabbed third for Michelle Brown.

Brown had a pair of winners on the undercard, both in sprints as Roanna Mamba and Pro Parker got the job done with plenty in hand. They have been in superb form recently and continue to notch up a string of wins. Janssens would add a second winner in the final race of the night with Slick Skylark, who made it a perfect 3/3 at the track.

Maxine Locke was another trainer to double up on the night. Ballymac Axel took a little while to find some clear air but once he did, he took off to blitz his opponents by almost six lengths. It was a hugely impressive winning margin given that he didn't pick up the lead until the three-quarters mark.

The Other Winx had impressed when stepping up to six bends for the first time a couple of weeks back at Romford. She was stretched out further to 664m at Central Park, producing a solid effort on the clock compared to the pick of the runners from 2025.

Millbank Rocco and Snowdon Mel added Julie Luckhurst's name to the double winners on the evening, though the pair were wide apart on the card. The former is a multiple top grade winner at the track, dropping to A2 to get his head back in front last week. The latter was a top grade winner on Monday, quickly doubling up.

It was win three in four starts back for Bluejig Baron who once more enjoyed his trip to Kent, running out a seven and three-quarter length winner. Cinderella Tell won a sprint contest for Paul Donovan, while Droopys Softy landed a 491m contest for Ricky Holloway.

Soapy Suds steps up in latest Doncaster win

Saturday night at Doncaster saw Soapy Suds tested by the strongest opposition that she has taken on so far against dogs with Category One final form. She made the bet365 Puppy Oaks final herself, of course, but taking on the opposite sex saw BresBet Steel City Cup finalist Bouncing Monarch sent off as the favourite for David Fradgely.

He led off the second bend but he was not able to hold off the strong-running puppy who pounced late to take the win. She has now won six of her seven career starts, with recent All England Cup finalist Toddys Tank back in third.

Tom Heilbron picked up a Toddys win with Wolf taking out a sprint contest. He was a deeply impressive winner, cracking out to go clear from an early stage. The National Sprint semi-finalist can make an impact at the top level this year.

Look Smart picked up his fifth win from his last eight starts over 450m. He too had a strong field against him with the Heilbron pair of Madabout Peck and Unanimous Leon chasing him home. It was a more impressive win given he had to come from behind those two.

One who will have been happy to see Look Smart in a different race was Samantha Lapidge's Gothic Joshua. He had won three straight over this trip in the first half of December before being behind the Grayson-trained rival on his last three. It was a return to winning ways for him here.

Another sprint on the card went the way of Shaun Birks's Ballinabola Zoey. It was her first win since September and the first time that she has got her head in front in open race company.

Morris lands two of the three Yarmouth opens

Flashing Fender had won three of his last four A1 races but stepped back into open company against similar rivals to land another success. He made the third round of the Derby last year, qualifying on his UK debut from a heat that contained Zenith Tanju, March On Freddie, Fabulous Aria and Burrows Charm, all Category One finalists.

Morris also landed the sprint on the card with Rockmount Dale. He has now won four of his 10 starts for Morris, arriving off the back of a win in his sole start at Waterford. Sprinting suits him well, landing a D1 and a pair of opens over this trip.

Sandra Clayton denied Morris a clean sweep, Alberts Mary hitting the front early on and never looking back to deny the Morris-trained favourite Caister Kay. The winner got off the mark on Monday in an A5, quickly doubling her career tally. She is only a July 24 whelp from a family who have been successful for Clayton in the past with the likes of Alberts Legacy and Bonjurno Boy from previous litters.
