Suffolk Downs trebles for Brown and Whitton on Tuesday
There was action at Suffolk Downs and Star Pelaw on Tuesday evening with a pair of trebles at the former from Michelle Brown and Darren Whitton.

Tuesday Trebles for Brown and Whitton
Gothic Abbess was the pick of the Michelle Brown winners at Suffolk Downs last night, dipping under 34 seconds on her debut over six bends. Just the third dog this year to break the barrier, and on a track that was -15 by that point over 548m, she stretched more than 11 lengths clear of her rivals to justify her 1/5 odds.
Another to make a successful step up in trip for the first time for Brown was Goldcash Prince. He was an impressive winner of an A2 on his prior start, and now that he has got his eye in around this track again having had a trip to Newcastle, he is producing some smart runs.
The treble was kicked off by Golden Acre who finally picked up a decision over Laugh Alot. It was a slightly messy contest which helped her challenge late to grab the money on the run-in.
Darren Whitton also picked up three winners on the night, kicking off with Moaning Hearns who was stepping up in trip. He already has the top three times over the sprint trip at the track this year, seamlessly transitioning to the 388m trip with a strong 23.67 (-20) showing.
Moaning Sugaray is a litter brother of Hearns, and he too was on the scoresheet, this time in a sprint contest. He has been sent off at the head of the market in his recent starts here, cashing in at the third time of asking. There was also a smart trial before racing of their half-brother Moaning Gabriel who moved well and will be well fancied to land a 388m maiden.
The draw in stripes was a big plus to Blackheath Charm in a staying race that contained two middles and three wides. She got on the lead early on and was always doing enough to hold off a solid field made up of some Suffolk Downs regulars.
A lack of a prior look had been the undoing of Coolemore Azzabi last week at the track but she showed the benefit by running riot in her second attempt for Brian Cooper. Her win at Harlow a couple of weeks back was as quick as any dog has stopped the clock there over 415m since the end of 2023, so she is an clearly in great heart at present.
Although the win from Jason Smith's Westfield Raheem was not one of the stronger efforts on the clock, he did well having missed the break completely to get himself to the front off the third bend. More impressive was a 4.58 split on -20 going given the way he came away, showing plenty of speed up to turn handy.
There was a winner for Jane Craske as Solid Luna stayed on best in a 388m maiden to grab the win late on. She has picked up three wins in her last six starts, picking up a dog who at Yarmouth would be a couple of grades better than her. The winning time was solid for the class of contest as well, so she will surely be back.
The card opened with a sprint maiden which went to Jason Ray's Savana Pepsi. He had wins over both four and six bends at this track before missing three months of action. This trip is clearly short of his ideal but he produced the goods in decent style.
Mickys Tribute takes second Star Pelaw hurdle
The 26-second barrier was broken over hurdles at Star Pelaw as Mickys Tribute made it 2/2 over the jumps at the track. On much more suitable going to produce a time, he was in front by the third bend and looks well suited to this test. This made it four straight wins after a Central Park open race success and a Hove top grade victory.
There was only one other open on the card which went the way of Fruity Topman for Ross Miller. Miller is in the kennels on the track and only had his first runners as a trainer on March 26. The winner was a regular scorer in D2 grade at Doncaster for Debbie Calvert having had some solid form at this track for that trainer in opens last autumn.
