The big races tonight are the three semis of the Arena Racing Company Northern Puppy Derby but they look tricky so we head to Hove for our three picks instead.
Thursday's Tips
*** Droopys Deploy - 8.59 Hove
** Hopes Candy - 6.26 Hove
* Scooby The Lady - 7.16 Hove
Droopys Deploy is yet to get his head in front in three starts since joining the kennels of Jason Heath but this looks his best opportunity so far. The 2025 Northern Puppy Derby winner went on to make the final of the Irish Derby, finishing fifth to Cheap Sandwiches. He has a 29.06 in a trial and 29.30 in a race here and that latter should be enough to see him off the mark for his new kennel.
A six-bend contest can see Heath get an earlier winner on the card to give the kennel plenty of confidence. Hopes Candy has some solid form over the 695m trip already to her credit, without being able to win a maiden open. She should be more than capable of redressing that this evening with a lovely draw to work from in the red jacket with a middle mover in two.
The penny has dropped in style with Scooby The Lady this year, able to back up the huge promise that she showed when making a winning debut back in October. This is going to be more of a test for her as she has an Oaks finalist in opposition, but the form that she has showed in her recent winning efforts can see her get to the front early and add another success.
