Tiffield Tarquin lights up Hove on Thursday night
There were 10 opens at Hove on Thursday night with the pick of them seeing Tiffield Tarquin continue his outstanding start to 2026 with another success.

Tarquin produces fireworks at Hove
There have only been eight quicker times over 515m in the last four years than the 29.60 that Tiffield Tarquin produced last night for Roy Peckham, and four of those were Proper Heiress! The Essex Vase champion was imperious throughout to land win number 15 in a career that has only spanned 33 races to this point.
Rapido Roisin was the quickest of the 500m winners on the card, The market had spoken in her favour and a slick exit put the race beyond doubt within the first few strides. She was an expensive purchase out of the sales but has a pair of wins already in her opening six starts for Paul Young.
The quickest over six bends on the night also belonged to Young with Innfield Fifi dipping under the 42-second barrier. She didn't take up the lead until late in the day but she powered clear once she had got to the front. A strong stayer, she needs things to fall right for her, as she is not the most frequent winner. But when they do, like last night, she produces impressive performances.
Young had the final winner on the card as well with Bowmers Buddy. He was not getting off the mark out of turn, a maiden after seven starts coming in despite making the semis of the Arena Racing Company Northern Puppy Derby. Just an August 24 and a half-brother to the likes of Gary The Arb and Droopys Eunice, surely he has plenty of improvement still to come.
The first open winner on the night was Zenith Rocket. He had picked up Rapido Roisin last week late on, and Richard Rees's runner once more proved too strong late ing the day for his rivals. It was his sixth win in his last eight starts and looks a likely type for a Derby tilt. He has a single Towcester start to his credit in the opening round of the JR Racing Juvenile where he chased home the eventual one-two in the final plus one who subsequently made a pair of Cat One finals!
Rees doubled up in the very next race with Avarua Flojo over six bends. It was a race that had garnered plenty of attention on social media beforehand and is not a race to dwell on too much. The winner ended a run of four straight runner-up spots, though that was helped by the waywardness of those chasing her.
It has been a great run of form on Thursday nights of late for Jason Heath, continuing that with a double of his own. Rules For Some came home in front in the Stayers final, though it was a horribly messy opening couple of bends that saw the hot favourite out of the race. The winner has been flying, however, a winner of three straight.
Burrows Charm made it a quickfire double for Heath in the following contest, another on the card that saw early tangling. Heath had the favourite Droopys Deploy but he couldn't overcome the trouble at the first bend, with his kennelmate getting up in the finish of the night with the first four home covered by three short heads.
There was a visually impressive win from Untold Aave for Belinda Green, just half a length off the quickest of the night over 500m. She powered almost five lengths clear from the third bend, to make it three wins from her last four starts.
Gemma Byford landed the other open on the card with Slick Mick. It was another race that saw trouble at the opening bend with the two market leaders both taken out of the equation. At 7/1, he was the join biggest priced winner on the card alongside Burrows Charm, keeping on best to add to a Central Park open win from November.
