Tuesday's Tips

*** Choices Jean - 8.59 Towcester

** Fifis Lad - 7.49 Towcester

* Salacres Showoff - 6.26 Towcester

A bottom grade sprint is perhaps not the ideal race to be finding a best bet on a card but Choices Jean stands out at Towcester this evening. She has clocked 16.69 in both of her last two runs, a time that really should be winning a contest like this where the majority of her rivals are struggling to break 17 seconds. A July 24 youngster, she is only just out of puppy status, her early problems look to be behind her, and she can finally get her head in front.

Fifis Lad has won two of his last three starts in this A5 grade, quickly returned to this level after a single run in A4 when sent off at 20/1. Despite the price, he was only beaten a couple of lengths having led them until hampered on the final bend. A consistent type on the clock, a repeat of his recent form should be enough to see him add to that strong recent record at this level.

The impression is that the best days of Salacres Showoff are firmly ahead of him, pitched into the Juvenile Classic when stepped up to four bends for the first time in his career last time out. He had gone close in a pair of D5 contests prior to that, looking like the penny is starting to drop with him. His trapping leaves a little to be desired but improvement should be forthcoming over this sort of distance.
