Meet More Often was the quicker of the two semi-final winners the Dan McCann Ulster 500 on Monday night, clocking 28.17 for owner/trainer Eamonn Curran. Early pace is her weapon of choice which she displayed to good effect form the innermost draw to come a length and three-quarters clear at the line. Caislean Champ and Up From Eskragh qualified behind her for the final.
The other semi went to Eager Marty who overcame what had looked a difficult draw on paper out in five. Damien McConville's pup took the lead at the opening corner and opened up a two and three-quarter length gap by the time the line came, with Scally Annie and Creevy Pet chasing him home to book their places in next week's final.
Brandywell have long been grateful for the support of Kevin Perisi, with a race run in the memory of his mother Patricia won by Rein Back for trainer Roy Ruddy. Monday night was the annual Keeperlit Gala Night which Parisi plays a huge part in organising, with the race sponsored by Paul Ryan.
A spokesperson for Brandywell said, "The Brandywell greyhound racing community would like to send their sincere condolences to Kevin Perisi on the loss of his mother and we appreciate Kevin’s commitment in organising Keeperlit 2025 despite going through this difficult and sad time."
Perisi along with Lynda Bonner combined to sponsor the 'We Love Our Mum’s Sprint' which went to Michael Corr's Meenagh Malaga. Just a June '24 baby, she is a half-sister to a multiple top grade winner at Central Park and looks to have got plenty of speed about her.
The card opened with a win for Thats Deadly Sir in a sprint contest. The winning margin of three lengths was the biggest of any race on the night. Race two went to Ballyskeagh Nova who showed great determination to battle back to the lead having been headed. Those races were sponsored by Michael Young and Martin Hagen who are well known to Brandywell locals as sponsors of the Gold Cup.
Tammy Kay was the winner of the seventh race on the card before the closing Leo Gallagher Memorial Sprint went to Freyas Robyn. She got the verdict by a short head, to close out an exciting evening with many of Leo Gallagher's friends and family in the crowd to support the night.
