Tighe treble at Star Pelaw

It was a perfect evening for Stuart Tighe at Star Pelaw, heading home with three of the six open race winners on the card with his only three runners. All three were heats of a maiden sprint competition which will make things interesting with half of the field next week.

Eff Tee Em opened the night with a 14.75 success, followed a spot slower by Trevors Star. The best was left until last with Favourite Rogue clocking 14.48. He had won an ON2 competition at Shelbourne back in June, twice clocking 29.06, getting off the mark at the third time of asking in the UK.

Bogger Darling produced the pick of the 435m times, landing a 25.68 success for Savva Roberts. An Angel of the North finalist back in July, she has been unlucky to bump into smart types on her visits to Star Pelaw so far, successful in a winners of one.

Frank Kearney got on the winners list with Santas Bugatti. He was a wide-margin winner of the maiden final on the card, clocking 25.73. That's three straight wins now for him, with his sectional in each of those under the 5.50 mark.

The other open on the card was a six-bend contest which went the way of Untold Ariany for Glenn Foot. She was the shortest price on the card at 1/5, justifying those odds with a minimum of fuss, away and gone to win by more than eight lengths.

Swindon open winners

Sallowglen Hope produced the top performance of the night for trainer John Campbell. He had clocked a smart 28.09 when winning an open earlier on in October, equaling that time last night. Favourite Eagles Respect found a little trouble and the winner needed no second invitation to take full advantage of that.

A sprint contest was won by Dalton Smith's Signet Maisie. The inside runners saw their races end at the first turn as space became short with the winner getting herself to the front and missing the trouble behind her.

The other open was another 476m contest which went the way of Hows That for Paul Meek. A 29.19 Shelbourne winner on his sole start in Ireland, he had shown promise in four runs at Dunstall Park ahead of getting off the mark last night.
