It is off to Romford for our three selections this evening with the Coral Romford Puppy Cup the feature of the card.
Friday's Tips
*** Underground Navy - 8.13 Romford
** Droopys Strike - 6.53 Romford
* Carrigoon Cece - 9.13 Romford
It was a very impressive debut over eight bends last week from Underground Navy and she can follow that up this evening. She boasted solid form over shorter prior to the rise in trip, and that helped her to pop out in front. Droopys Rhona is a fair type in opposition, a recent St Leger semi-final runner but her two wins over this trip here were not as quick as the selection managed last week, so if going around in front again, she'll be difficult to contain.
There has been plenty of speed shown in trials so far for Droopys Strike but he is yet to find a way to produce that same level in a race. It is surely only a matter of time for the youngster before he does so, however. He is an April 25 whelp with only two starts on his card, just a length and a half behind Coral Romford Puppy Cup finalist Jacquesinthebox on his debut. The potential is there for him to take off when it clicks in race action.
Realistically, if Darcys Dude comes away like he did in the semis, the Coral Romford Puppy Cup final should be his for the taking. If he doesn't (like in the first round) it could leave the door open for Carrigoon Cece to take advantage. She has the pick of the draw as the sole railer, smashing out and making all last week. A repeat break like that will put pressure on the favourite even if that one does come away running.
