Graham Banks's Wednesday Greyhound Tips- 1st October

Fresh from picking three winners out of three at Romford last Wednesday, Graham Banks takes a look through the card at Romford this evening and has picked out his three best bets on the card

*** Gunman  (T5, 6.53pm Romford)  4pts 9/4 Bet365

** Whitewood Lenny (T6, 7.11pm Romford) 3pts 9/4 Bet365

* Mucky Boreen (T1, 9.11pm Romford) 2pts 13/8 Bet365

Tonight's selections come from the graded meeting at Romford, where the best bet on the card heads to the traps in the 6.53pm contest in the shape of Dave Lee's GUNMAN.

Having taken a tumble in an A4 contest last time out, Gunman showed that all is well again in a recent trial up against the Premier Greyhound Racing Champion Stakes favourite New Destiny having led her to the fourth bend, where he recorded 24.47. Off the back of that, he has a drop back into A5 company, where he was an all the winner back on August 19th, recording a 24.43.

He has shown good early pace in his last two starts and looks to have solid claims of leading this field out wide, and if able to turn the opening bends in front, then a repeat of either of those two previous times ought to be good enough to see him back to winning ways here

Just under twenty minutes later at 7.11pm, the next best on the card, WHITEWOOD LENNY will look to take advantage of a drop back into graded action

Maxine Locke's runner has finished down the field in his last three starts in open company, but prior to that, had won his two previous starts in top grade action, clocking 23.99 and 23.91 in doing so.

Very few of his rivals have broken the 24.00 second barrier in recent weeks so if he can produce another of his usual fast starts, he can lead into the opening bends, and from there, it would take a huge effort to reel him in

The third selection, and hopefully the final leg of the treble, goes at 9.11pm where MUCKY BOREEN will be looking to land some compensation for a costly defeat when dropped in grade last week

Alison Kelly-Pilgrim's runner was a 5/4F when finishing runner up last week, but he didn't produce one of his better breaks on that occasion. He has a good draw on the rails to work from this evening and if breaking on better terms, he can turn the opening bends in a decent looking position and may just prove too strong in the later stages
