We take a look over the top runs at each of the Irish racing venues from last week to pick out the top run at each of them.
Great week for sprinters in Ireland
But for last week being the final of the BOYLE Sports Irish Greyhound Derby, there is every chance that Vernon Mist would have taken higher ranking in the Shelbourne efforts. This week he did not go quite as quick, but a run just 11 spots off the fastest of the year in a sprint contest that he ripped apart by five lengths was a mightily impressive performance.
The name that tops all Shelbourne sprint times this year is Tiermana Dream who put himself quickest of 2026 at Curraheen Park as well with a win on Saturday night. He also tops the standings at Limerick and although he is not top at Dundalk, he did win the Bar 1 Irish Sprint Cup. He is simply an outstanding sprinter, now if only we could lure him over here for the Scurry or the National Sprint...
There was an impressive sprint debut at Dundalk courtesy of Rusty Tractor with some telephone numbers being bandied around after his win in terms of potential purchase price. There is no doubt that it was a very taking debut, though already 25 months old. He will be a fascinating one to follow.
Boardofpeace went unbeaten through a tri-distance A2 competition at Limerick held over 550, 575 and 600y. He probably improved on his run with each effort, and with his grand-dam a six-bend winner, he could be the type to head over a touch further at some point, shaping like a perfect hound for over here and the likes of 630m at Monmore.
Galway saw a very smart run from Annadown Harvey, tying the fifth quickest time of the year over 525y there. Those ahead of him include 2025 Irish Derby finalist Magical Mag, while his pedigree of Grangeview Ten X Annadown Cutie seems very familiar but I just can't put my finger on where from...
