Joe's Thursday Tips

***7.33 Hove - Join In (4pts) 9/4
**7.27 Newcastle - Slingshot Sam (3pts) 2/1
*9.28 Newcastle - Droopys Niece (2pts) 2/1

Prices right but results wrong as we look to bounce back again this evening from a disappointing Wednesday.

The nap of the night is trap one Join In in the S2 at Hove over 695m at 7.33pm. A consistent A2 performer and a big drop in class from her S1 third a couple of months ago behind Turkish Lira, Join In stays this trip well and the make up of this race can suit. Burrows Diamond will look to lead and make all so if Join In can use the draw and the short run to the bend to her advantage, she can plough on and catch Burrows Diamond late on to land the spoils.

The next best is trap five Slingshot Sam in the A1 at Newcastle at 7.27pm. A competitive affair with plenty of his rivals in good form but arguably the best graded dog at Newcastle can come on for last weeks second behind another in form type in Naochra and return to winning ways. There is good early pace in the race including kennelmate Slingshot Shaz in trap one but a level break for Slingshot Sam with a vacant box inside him can see him pick up a fourth A1 victory.

The third bet of the evening is trap two Droopys Niece in the A1 at Newcastle at 9.28pm. Another greyhound who takes a big drop in class considering she has been behind Slingshot Shaz, Greenwell Tyson and Slingshot Sam in recent weeks as well as beating Velvet Black so this strong running type can weave her way through from the second bend. She wouldn’t be blessed with too much early pace so as long as she is in a reasonable position coming out the second bend she can use her back straight pace and power to knock up another Newcastle victory.
