***  Woltemade - 8.38 Dunstall Park

** Break The Ice - 7.38 Dunstall Park

* Moanteen Hatton - 6.58 Dunstall Park

Although he was turned over in the semis last week, that minor blip can be quickly forgotten by supporters of Woltemade this evening as he heads to traps as the favourite for the final of the Arena Racing Company Birmingham Cup. The orange jacket has been his perfect ping box in finals and he can make no mistake when it matters the most.

Although the trial time from Break The Ice around here was not exceptional by any means, the feeling is that he left plenty of time out on the track. He is probably better off being judged on the fact that he beat Headford Lily in that trial, a fellow Maxine Locke-trained hound who had won seven of her last nine open races heading in. It's a serious piece of form for an unraced puppy to boast.

There was plenty to like about Moanteen Hatton when he got his head in front at Monmore on his last race start, backing that up with a smart trial at this track subsequently. He beat Coral Sussex Cup winner Smokestack Saxon in a Clonmel trial ahead of his debut and then ran BOYLE Sports Irish Derby runner-up Sleight Of Hand to three lengths at Shelbourne on May 1. He is a smart type and looks to have settled in well over here now.
